Taken during a photo trip to College Lake, Tring (Hertfordshire). The structure is part of the conveyor belt used here in open-pit mining (chalk or limestone for cement making) up to the 1980s.

Union Pacific work train takes the weekend off, tied down on the center siding at Echo, Utah on June 26, 2021. The 30-car train is a Herzog Automated Conveyor Train, designed to distribute up to 2,900 tons of ballast and other materials on curved track. It had been used the previous day along Main No. 2 near Devils Slide.

There are still a number of old corn cribs around here in central Illinois, but I always like to see this one in Piatt County that still has a conveyor with the crib. This photo was taken on Sunday after last weekend's beautiful snowfall.

26th June 2015 - Am image taken on board the ACL vessel 'Atlantic Conveyor' . This is a black and white conversion of one of the port bulkheads at the forward end of the accommodation block on the port side. I spotted the life ring and the deeply weather beaten wall and thought 'I've gotta get that'..

The Conveyor is due to go out of sevice soon with the introduction of ACL's G4 fleet and sadly, Conveyor wasn't chosen as the name of one of the new vessels. Who knows when or if we will ever see this venerable name again .

5 sets of coal hoppers populate the run thru tracks at the east end of BRC's Commercial Ave Yard. Not a huge amount of info has been mentioned about the operation, so you would never have suspected the huge tide of UP, SP, BN and Soo Line feeding a never ending stream of Black Diamonds to serve a whole host of Wisconsin, Indiana, Michigan and Illinois coal powered Utilities along the shores of Lake Michigan and Illinois River via KCBX's buzy barge loader in the Calumet River at South Chicago. BRC pushed and pulled trains thru the terminal on a 24 hour basis, and was a great show for the ALCO fans as the BRC "Boat Job's" ALWAYS had C424 pairs..

40106 'Atlantic Conveyor' heads away from Hampton Loade, Severn Valley Railway - seen here from the path that runs alongside the line as far as Alveley Country Park.

40106 was built in 1960, entering service at Crewe in October of that year as D306.

It was renumbered as 40106 in March 1974 and briefly painted in standard BR blue before a repaint into Dark Brunswick Green, which it carries to this day.

It was purchased for preservation in March 1984 and named 'Atlantic Conveyor' later that year as a tribute to ship of the same name, and its crew who were lost during the Falklands War of 1982.

40106 was hired by the SVR in 2018 to provide vacuum braked and steam heated services during the winter. This was originally meant to be a 12 month contract, but the loco has been resident on the railway ever since.

NB Whistler is a nickname given to the class due to their distinctive engine noise.

The Consolidation mine was much more than just a hard coal mine: it was the engine of Gelsenkirchen, 'the city of a thousand fires'. Workplace for countless employees.

Since 1865, the mine experienced a legendary rise that lasted more than 100 years.

Had to ask a local what this was. Appears to be a gravel conveyor belt from a local quarry. Looked like a giant Centipede.
