There were two chicks in this nest. As we were setting up, one of the chicks fledged. We were fortunate to get this last feeding of the remaining chick. A few minutes after we took this image, it took off to join the family.

Teach me, Lord, the way of your decrees,
that I may follow it to the end.
Give me understanding, so that I may keep your law
and obey it with all my heart.
Direct me in the path of your commands,
for there I find delight.

Adult males are bright yellow below with heavy black streaks on the flanks. A black eyeline and a black semicircle under the eye mark the yellow face. Males often have a chestnut patch on the back and a dark spot on the side of the neck. Females and immatures are similar but paler, with a grayish head and broken white eyering.

The striated heron (Butorides striata) also known as mangrove heron, little heron or green-backed heron, is a small heron, about 44 cm tall. Striated herons are mostly non-migratory and noted for some interesting behavioral traits. Their breeding habitat is small wetlands in the Old World tropics from west Africa to Japan and Australia, and in South America and the Caribbean.
Adults have a blue-grey back and wings, white underparts, a black cap, a dark line extends from the bill to under the eye and short yellow legs. Juveniles are browner above and streaked below.
These birds stand still at the water's edge and wait to ambush prey, but are easier to see than many small heron species. They mainly eat small fish, frogs and aquatic insects. They sometimes use bait, dropping a feather or leaf carefully on the water surface and picking fish that come to investigate.
They nest in a platform of sticks measuring between 20–40 cm long and 0.5–5 mm thick. The entire nest measures some 40–50 cm wide and 8–10 cm high outside, with an inner depression 20 cm wide and 4–5 cm deep. It is usually built in not too high off the ground in shrubs or trees but sometimes in sheltered locations on the ground, and often near water. The clutch is 2–5 eggs, which are pale blue and measure around 36 by 28 mm.

Probably the most common duck species in North America, but still one of my favorites to photograph-especially when they're "hamming it up" for the cameras. There were three drakes surrounding a hen vying for her attention. This drake was bathing and stretching for minutes on end. He must have won her affection because he swam off with the hen. The two remaining drakes took a cold shower.

Be strong and of good courage, do not fear nor be afraid of them; for the LORD your God, He is the One who goes with you. He will not leave you nor forsake you." - Deut. 31:6
Never seen this behavior in a pheasant they nomally stay on the ground, she worked out where the seed was coming from and jumped up onto all the sources of food that had been set up by myself and destroyed the whole lot, end of day.
The African spoonbill (Platalea alba) is a long-legged wading bird of the ibis and spoonbill family Threskiornithidae. The species is widespread across Africa and Madagascar, including Botswana, Kenya, Mozambique, Namibia, South Africa, and Zimbabwe.
It lives in marshy wetlands with some open shallow water and nests in colonies in trees or reedbeds. They usually don't share colonies with storks or herons. The African spoonbill feeds in shallow water, and fishes for various fish, molluscs, amphibians, crustaceans, insects and larvae. The animal uses its open bill to catch foods by swinging it from side-to-side in the water, which catches foods in its mouth. Long legs and thin, pointed toes enable it to walk easily through varying depths of water.
The African spoonbill is almost unmistakable through most of its range. The breeding bird is all white except for its red legs and face and long grey spatulate bill. It has no crest, unlike the common spoonbill. Immature birds lack the red face and have a yellow bill. Unlike herons, spoonbills fly with their necks outstretched.
We spotted this walking along a wooden gate, quite small 4-5mm long, haven't seen one before, can anyone ID it please, I would be very grateful

On Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2022, the moon will pass through the shadow of Earth resulting in a total lunar eclipse that will be from Oceania, the Americas, Asia, and Northern Europe.
During the total lunar eclipse, the moon may take on a brownish red-hue that results from light from the sun hitting its disk after being bent around the Earth by our planet's atmosphere, which also filters out blue light.

Sculpture (limestone) by Barbara Hepworth, 1948, seen in St. Albans Museum and Gallery. I find it remarkable that Hepworth used the visual language of the Madonna and Child to represent the "new morning" in the biological history of our planet. The Eocene covers roughly the first thirty million years after the extinction of the dinosaurs - and the rise of new plant life, of the mammals and, ultimately, us. The image may tell us that this process has a sacred dimension or, at least, that religious language is a way to visually describe it. Edited in Fuji's raw converter and refined in Luminar.
