I did a virtual swap meet with Tom Abrahamsson. A batch of Tessina and Nikon cassettes went to Vancouver and I was lucky enough to receive this beautiful camera.(Lens and finder were mine.)
First roll is in, some Rollei Retro 100 and should be out again later today.
Lens is Skopar 50mm f2.5 a really well made lens.
well, I just lost a half hour of my life staring at this. The view makes me want to write, to hike, to go.... There are trails left and right of this, Palisades Lakes to the right down there by Clover Lake, and Huckleberry far off to the left, which btw, if you go to its end at the edge of the park is an abandoned patrol cabin that was built in the 1930's, no idea why. But there is nothing straight ahead trail wise to take you to the mystical place named Burnt Park. Blow it up and wander around, I can tell you it's far more wonderful being mentally lost than physically... :)
Today is my fortieth class reunion, Fort Zumwalt High School, O'Fallon Missouri, class of 84. I won't be attending, but go Panthers.

Post privatisation but still in Network SouthEast livery Railtrack Plc owned Sandite/De-Icing unit 930 007 is seen waiting at Hastings to form sandite train 8Z42 13.20 to Tonbridge.
This departmental unit was one of the batch authorised for conversion at Selhurst Depot between 1977-82 from redundant 4-SUB (class 405) motor coaches. Set 007 was formed of ADB975592 (ex S10993 from set 4127) and ADB 975593 (ex S12659 from set 4604). The no.1 end ADB 975592 was the De-icing vehicle fitted with polythene lined steel tanks to prevent the tanks becoming live when de-icing fluid was being released onto the conductor rail. The no.2 coach ADB 975593 was initially empty on conversion but subsequently modified and fitted with hopper vats to carry Laponite solution (commonly known as Sandite). When laying sandite the train would be restricted to 20mph hence the class 8 headcode where as de-icer could be laid at 45mph. The units were fitted with extra shoe gear to create better contact in icy conditions and two shoes, one either side were fitted with air operated vibrating pins to dislodge any formed ice on the conductor rail rather than just frost or snow. Formed ice blobs could be a problem under overhanging structures like bridges where water could drip and freeze creating a lump on the conductor rail.
A conversion to black & white using Silver Efex Pro 2 where I used a Tin Type recipe and then made some color filters to bring out a much richer tonal contrast for the final image.

For a club competition i entitle this 'In the bleak midwinter' It is actually taken in Autumn. It is infrared, hence why grass white.
The same view of the last picture as we saw it. Although it was a massive kick that wasn't converted it went wide rather than falling short. I cannot begin to think about kicking that far away!

...when I played 40k a a miniature war game and modeling hobby, I sometimes would find really cheap models from non games workshop at my local geek-store often these were failed games that had gone default and was selling them cheap...
...that was a great way to get cheap DIY modeling conversion, since we played with Renegade chaos warbands mostly who (at that time) had an ever-shifting array of members since it was a campaign system whe some soldiers actually died or got changed by the whim of their patron gods...
this little fellow was one such custom modified conversion... isn´t this Confederation just a pretty cute corpse of undead bones :)

Created after this awesome unofficial Tau model. Should be a real walking fortress and a titan killer.
Over 7K parts. All the joints are geared (only the "ankles" have shock absorbers instead), the inner frame is more technic-based than anything I did for Tau previously. Took me a while to finish, truly a beast! It may be even more complicated technique-wise than my Hammerhead/Skyray. Shame I couldn't make more renders today, they appear to take way too long.

Cyber conversion unit:
So this is a pretty simple design, the basic just of it is that processed humans will be placed onto a conversion crane apparatus, which will lower them into the conversion unit chamber (it's a small rounded chamber under the main level) the chamber houses a conversion unit, a curved framework with operating arms and equipment for conversion. The rounded grate is used to filter out unwanted or discarded organic parts. Once the human is fully converted, the crane will lift them out and into the stasis chambers. The conversion chamber is then sterilised, ready for the next conversion.

Finished teaching in Ebisu earlier today and wandered up through Shibuya to Shinjuku, via the Meiji Shrine. This scene seemed a perfect one to try another infra-red shot with Ken's D300 which he has loaned me for a while.
Waited a while for one of the birds to fly through, as that gap in the trees needed filling with something...
Have screen-grabbed the workflow on this shot and will put it all up on japanorama.co.uk asap. Doing a photowalk tomorrow, so I need to get to bed now.
The edges of the trees near the top of the frame have gone a bit weird. To get it perfect would require a bit more work. Really still experimenting with this camera. Will try a black and white version of this too and post it.

Recently converted DC to AC AC44C6M #4005 leads NS P65 over the CSX CN&L (in Little Mountain, SC) to get to the V-Line and International Paper in Silverstreet, SC.
The 2nd half was a complete turn around from the first. Whatever Bath had in their half time cup of tea seemed to work as they ran out 27-21 winners thanks to two late tries.

Repeatedly, I see our friends having problems understanding and making the best use of Raw Conversion. There is actually a lot that can be done, while converting a raw file. If you can make the best of the tools available, you actually don't need to do much in post processing at all.

This was done in Photoshop CS2. I may at some point do a similar interface tutorial for CS3 if the interest level happened to be high enough.
DUNREE LIGHTHOUSE IS BUILT 46M ABOVE THE HIGH WATER SEA LEVEL AND HAS INCREDIBLE VIEWS OVER LOUGH SWILLY AND OUT TO THE WILD ATLANTIC. IT WAS BUILT IN 1876 AFTER THE DUKE OF ABERCORN REQUESTED BETTER LIGHTING FOR THE LOUGH AND SUGGESTED CONVERTING THE TWO MARTELLO TOWERS LOCATED AT MACAMISH AND DUNREE. THE GOVERNMENT HAD NO INTENTION OF DISPOSING OF THEIR MARTELLO TOWERS AND SO, AFTER A SURVEY, CHOSE THIS POSITION ABOVE DUNREE FORT FOR A NEW LIGHTHOUSE. IT WAS ALSO DECIDED THAT THE BUILDING SHOULD NOT BE MORE THAN ONE STORY HIGH AND SO THE LIGHTHOUSE WAS DESIGNED WITH THE LANTERN ATTACHED AT GROUND LEVEL TO THE FRONT OF THE DWELLING. IN 1927 THE LIGHT WAS CONVERTED TO ACETYLENE.WHICH MEANT THAT JOHN MURPHY, THE KEEPER AT THE TIME, NO LONGER HAD TO KEEP A NIGHT WATCH.
THE LIGHT HAD ANOTHER CONVERSION THIS TIME TO ELECTRIC IN 1969. THE SOURCE OF ILLUMINATION BEING A CLUSTER OF 100 WATT, 220 VOLT LAMPS. IF THE ESB SHOULD FAIL THEN A SMALL ELECTRIC ALTERNATOR AUTOMATICALLY TAKES OVER UNTIL THE MAINS SUPPLY HAS BEEN RESTORED. THE CHARACTER OF THE LIGHT IS FLASHING (2) WR 5 SECONDS. ITS RANGE IS 12 MILES WHITE AND 9 MILES RED. ITS INTENSITY IS 5,000 CANDELAS WHITE AND 1,200 CANDELAS RED. THE HEIGHT OF THE STRUCTURE IS 6 METRES.
IN 2015 A NEW 4 METER HIGH GRP NAVIGATIONAL TOWER AND BEACON LIGHT HAS BEEN FITTED TO MAKE THE SITE FULLY AUTOMATED. THE NEW NAVIGATIONAL TOWER WILL ALSO SERVE AS A DAYLIGHT MARKER.
