This is a quick shot taken en route to my evening location. I don't normally shoot this early in the evening, but i almost crashed the Adventure Wagon while cresting Countisbury Hill to be greeted by a temperature inversion rising from the ocean and almost fully engulfing Lynton town. Luckily there was a convenient lay by to hand..

I feel fortunate that I have visited all three of these great parks

Bedruthan became a popular destination when Newquay developed as a holiday resort more than 100 years ago. Victorians visiting in their carriages found it a convenient attraction, and the local farmer responded to this interest by providing stalls for the horses on payment of a toll.

The dramatic views rarely fail to provide a breathtaking experience. The geology of the cliffs and stacks themselves is intriguing and it's easy to visit without realising that there's a history of mining in the area dating back to the 19th century.

Carnewas was a hive of industrial activity in the 19th century although not much is known of the mining that took place there. It is supposed that miners tunnelled into the cliffs from the beach in search of iron, copper and lead. Mining stopped many years ago, but the buildings are a reminder of this industry. The National Trust shop was once the count house or mine office and the café was also converted from mine buildings.

We date us remember? The Berlin winter vacations were it then already. So so some will think. Or let's put it this way, Feline wished for nothing more longing. Well, excellent school report yepp wish fulfilled LOL. Feline really wanted to go to the musical "The Ice Kings". And me? I tried my hand at photography again.

A superb little bird., not camera shy., and so good to have your lens pointing at something quite rare for a change

Perhaps its our central location., but the rare stuff always seem to get reported hundreds of miles away!

However., this little guy was a convenient 90 minutes drive away

For that alone., he deserved another upload!

Thanks for looking, comments and faves. Much appreciated

"Staghorn ferns are a group of about 18 species of epiphytic ferns in the genus Platycerium of the polypod family (Polypodiaceae) native primarily to Africa, Australia and Southeast Asia, whose fronds supposedly resemble the forked antlers of male deer or elk.

As epiphytes, staghorn ferns do not grow in soil, but attach to trees when growing in nature. Small plants can be grown in containers with a rich and very well-drained medium. In indoor cultivation, staghorn ferns are typically grown mounted on wooden boards or bark slabs, in wire baskets, or on other supports that provide the essential perfect drainage and are more convenient for plant management than a living tree!"

This is a good article about Staghorn Ferns, they are very complex plants but it is amazing to see them grow from a tiny plantlet to this big specimen in just a few years.

This famous motel on Highway 95 in the middle of the Nevada high desert is conveniently located next to an old cemetery. The nearby hills show the scars of mining. The hillside sign says "Tonopah Mining Park." The jet trails are probably from military jets. If you like military bases, mines, chemical weapon storage sites, and nuclear test sites, Nevada has it all!

The Queen's Walk is a promenade located on the southern bank of the River Thames in London, England, between Lambeth Bridge and Tower Bridge.

The creation of pedestrian access along the south bank of the Thames was seen as an integral part of the creation of the Jubilee Walkway to mark the Silver Jubilee of Queen Elizabeth II in 1977. However, the last section was not established until the completion of construction of London Bridge City c.1990

In 1996, the Walk was recognised as a foundation for establishing the Thames Path national trail through London.

This is a convenient route of several miles for tourists to walk from the London Eye Ferris wheel past numerous attractions to Tower Bridge and the Tower of London.

We can see birds everywhere now having got used to these artificial perches - overhead electric wires, barbed wire fences, concrete fenceposts, electric transmission towers etc. In the age where their natural perches (i.e. trees and bushes) are disappearing fast, they probably have no option but to use these alternatives.

Dhaulagiri is the 7th highest mountain in the world at 8,167m, and Tukuche in the right is at 6,929m. Tukuche is also the name of municipality in Mustang Valley that is home to Thakali people who are often engaged in tourism businesses.

This location is still one of my most favourite to photograph on the coastline of Portknockie. The best part is, it's literally just below my house so I can just pop down at any point to get a shot when conditions are right. There was a bit more cloud around on this day, having had many days of clear blue skies, so I took the opportunity to get a shot. Taken on the shores of Portknockie in Morayshire, Scotland.

About 25% of all of my Kingfisher images have been of this female (or a male) at this location. Considering how challenging it is to photograph these birds, I will continue to return here, especially since it is rather convenient for me. Another bonus: the Red-shouldered Hawks visit fairly regularly too.

Convenient boardwalks well placed on the track at Ohinetonga.

This is our local convenience store and laundromat. It is about eight miles from where I live. What I like about it is that there are two gas pumps. It costs a little bit more than in town, but it saves driving 22 miles if you miscalculate. My old 1989 Mercury is in great shape except that the gas gauge quit working a couple of years ago. Therefore, I use the trip meter to keep track of the miles I have driven. Occasionally (very, very rarely I might add), I forget to zero it out when I fill up. Then I realize it after I have driven 50 miles or so. Very confusing.

The bad thing is that you have to fill up the gas tank every time you put gas in, or you don’t know how much is in the tank.

Sometimes both sides of their pumps have signs on them that they are out of order. I think they just couldn’t afford the gas delivery. They are charged more for a petrol truck to come to this out of the way gas station. Anyway, I am glad we have it here at the end of nowhere!

Not convenient any more. I actually have to use a different language to post as they haven't done this terrible change to every language available. We want the original back for everyone!!!!!! Staff.... Please change the English site back to original!!!! Please!!!

Thank you all for visits, favs and comments, it's greatly appreciated!

Very convenient that the designers of this building included built-in identification of different parts of the structure - takes some of the guesswork out of the research!

I need to go back and shoot this in better lighting as this was pretty backlit. Thanks to digital sensor dynamic range and editing I can pull detail from the shadows and dodge the bright areas, but the result is a little more unnatural than I'd like.

==================================

There's a nice ferry linking La Valetta with the "Three Cities" of Birgu, Isla and Bormla on the other side of the Grand Harbour of Malta.

The Hospitaller Order had been established in Malta for a few decades, at first rather reluctantly. But the great Turkish siege, which lasted from 18 May to 8 September 1565 and was won by the defenders (at great cost) and heavy fighting at the forts of St Elmo, Birgu and St Michael, made them hold on to the island firmly.

Here you can see the "Three Cities" from Valletta (which during the great siege was just a wasteland. From left to right, Fort Sant Angelo, the oldest in the harbor, Birgu (also known as Vittoriosa), Conspicua and Senglea (with Fort San Michael inland). Of these, the oldest is Birgu.
