an electrical control panel I designed and built

I love old steam engines, and wish I could get behind the controls of one of these engines just once. For the moment, I will be content with taking pictures of them.

Yes.....this is an actual plane!

As we made our way down Broad Street last night, on our way to dinner downtown, Larry said to me "I have something cool to show you!" As we approached the Pennsylvania Academy of Fine Arts, Larry pointed out my passenger window down an alley........and OMG! The shot in the comments was the first glimpse I had of it, and I immediately begged Larry to pull the car over so I could get some pics.

LOL.....I don't get down to the city much, and had never seen this before. You would think I'd be aware of something as bizarre as a plane sticking out of the pavement!

I knew it was supposed to be somebody's expression of art, and wondered about the gut reactions of the people when they 1st saw it. Would they be intrigued by the mere sight, or possibly disturbed?......so many horrible disasters could be brought to mind by such a sight.

When I went home the 1st thing I did was get on the internet to find some info.

What I found was most interesting......and made me understand and appreciate the concept of this sculpture better.

In the comment pic you can see the weird pink light coming from the cockpit, and splashing off the wall of the building.

I picked the B&W for the lead shot......thought it looked much more startling without the distraction of the unnatural lighting.

I wish a portion of the walkway were clear,. Like Battelle Hall in the Greater Columbus Convention Center, this walk way can change colors at night! I want to host a fundraising reception on the walkway, but it is not currently available for private events.

The control rooms of Reactors 3 and 4 were almost identical.

According to KGB documents that were declassified in April 2021, "serious incidents" occurred in the third and fourth reactors in 1984, two years before reactor #4 exploded.

Reactor #3 was the last to be shut down. It continued to operate until December 2000....

The 10th and final Alton Classic Bus & Country Pub Running Day hosted by the Hants & Surrey Bristol RE Group took place on Saturday 20th July 2019.

For one last time, on the Saturday before the annual Alton Bus Rally (a separate event held on the Sunday), the Hampshire countryside reverberated with the sound of Bristol RE buses trundling between country pubs and Alton Railway Station.

There were 16 buses involved made up of 14 Bristol REs (including one used as the control bus), a Leyland Leopard and a Foden PVRF6 acting as a replacement for another RE.

Bristol RE / ECW bus: HDL25E, PPM210G (control bus), FWC439H, HFM196J, TDL563K, XLJ726K, JMW169P;

Bristol RE / ECW coach: 837SUO, AFM105B, OAX9F, TFM267K;

Bristol RE / Marshall: SJA352K;

Bristol RE / Alexander (Belfast): BXI2565, BXI2599;

Leyland Leopard / ECW: HNE641N;

Foden PVRF6 / Metalcraft: NTU125.

The majority of the control panel is now completed with the controllers and switches situated above the return loops and depot areas. Doubtless , operating experience will result in minor changes as time goes on.

Pointwork on the right hand board is controlled by wire push rods, whilst points on the left board are powered by solenoids controlled by the four SPDT switches on the far left.
