One of the former control rooms in the refurbished Battersea Power Station is now serving champagne cocktails instead of electrons
The harbor control center forms the top of this building in the marina district of Vancouver, B.C., Canada. You can see the other side of the control center reflected in the adjacent building.
Most of the older farm houses had gourd birdhouses hung around them to attract Purple Martins which are supposed to help with mosquito control.
This image started out and went in a new direction for me! I have always admired these drawing-like looks, but didn't know how to accomplish them. This one came on my computer with complete serendipity. I wasn't even trying to accomplish this - I just wanted to make a very bland photo interesting and usable. I would welcome any instruction from those who know how to achieve this look in a more orderly & predictable fashion than I went through.
MOPPIE: I am so scared!
JOSIE: Don't be, I got the remote control.
MOPPIE: That is what scares me most...
=====================================
MOPPIE: Ik ben zo bang!
JOSIE: Niet bang zijn, ik heb de afstandsbediening.
MOPPIE: Dat vind ik juist zo eng...
Mr Spock is testing his mind control to see if he can change the remote to the channel he wants or influence me to do his bidding.

"Taking Back Control" by Sparta
The future bleeds
All these wasted seeds
Don't let it go
We're taking back control
The future bleeds
All these wasted seeds
Don't let it go
We're taking back control
This large control tower allows the Port of Hobart officials to control all sea traffic as it comes up the Derwent. It is mostly cargo ships, but when the cruise season is running (and it hasn't for two years now) they direct the large cruise ships and the the tug boats into place.
Combined heat and power station Neudorf-Werndorf (1969), just before demolition in summer 2017. - One of the not very spectacular control rooms, just for documentation ;-)
A view I'd come across earlier in the morning with the setting of palm trees at the Inn at Death Valley and a view beyond to the southwest and the snowcapped ridges and peaks of the Panamint Range. So as I was heading out of Death Valley National Park, where I spent most of the morning, I decided to stop at this parking area and then position myself to capture an image. What I wanted to include was the landscaped, deadwood and palm trees, along with some other things in this parking area to fill up the foreground area. It was the snowcapped mountains that I really wanted to then align as a backdrop for this national park setting. I later worked with control points in DxO PhotoLab 6 and then made some adjustments to bring out the contrast, saturation and brightness I wanted for the final image.
owner named his Mopar "outta control"...certainly aptly named with this as his engine combo

They send me away to find them a fortune
A chest filled with diamonds and gold
The house was awake, the shadows and monsters
The hallways, they echoed and groaned
I sat alone, in bed till the morning
I'm crying, "They're coming for me"
And I tried to hold these secrets inside me
My mind's like a deadly disease
I'm bigger than my body
I'm colder than this home
I'm meaner than my demons
I'm bigger than these bones
And all the kids cried out,
"Please stop, you're scaring me"
I can't help this awful energy
God damn right, you should be scared of me
Who is in control?
I paced around for hours on empty
I jumped at the slightest of sounds
And I couldn't stand the person inside me
I turned all the mirrors around
I'm bigger than my body
I'm colder than this home
I'm meaner than my demons
I'm bigger than these bones
And all the kids cried out,
"Please stop, you're scaring me"
I can't help this awful energy
God damn right, you should be scared of me
Who is in control?
I'm well acquainted with villains that live in my head
They beg me to write them so they'll never die when I'm dead
And I've grown familiar with villains that live in my head
They beg me to write them so I'll never die when I'm dead
I'm bigger than my body

On our way to the Jemez falls, we had to drive through an area where a controlled burn was being conducted. A bunch of firefighters were out managing the blaze. Later on our way back during the blue hour, the firefighters had left, but a few logs and stumps were still burning, putting out a lot of smoke.
We grabbed a few shots and got the hell out of there, having already inhaled more smoke than was good for us.
The Zeche Zollern II/IV (translated: Zollern II/IV Colliery) is located in the northwestern suburb of Bövinghausen of Dortmund, Germany. The Gelsenkirchener Bergwerks-AG projected Zollern in 1898 as a model colliery.
Ground up construction began in 1898 on a new site. Most of the buildings of the colliery were built in solid brickwork by the architect Paul Knobbe and were completed in 1904 with the central engine house, in which the most up-to-date generators and machinery used in the colliery were housed. The architecture and state-of-the-art technology support the transition of Gothic-revival to Art Nouveau and the industrialization of the early 1900s.
Due to deadline pressure, the central engine house was built in iron framework construction with infilling of red brickwork, planned and executed by the Gutehoffnungshütte. The Art Nouveau styled main entrance was designed by the Berlin architect Bruno Möhring, it shows a lead glazing of blue, green and-glass. Counterpart of the main entrance is the big control board of polished marble in brass mounting, with a brass clock hanging from above.
Other buildings on the site include administration bureaus, blacksmith's shop and carpenter's shop, first-aid and fire station with stable, pithead baths, tools store and the central gateway.
In 1969, three years after it closed down, the colliery was recognized as Germany's first technical building monument of international importance. Since 1981, it has been the headquarters of the Westphalian Industrial Museum.
The original pit frames had been scrapped before 1969, two similar constructions from other collieries were reconstructed on this site in the 1980s.
The museum is an anchor point on the European Route of Industrial Heritage.
