This is a contract between the Chief Muleteer and the mule team. It comes from Shaxi, Dali Prefecture, Yunnan. Here is a rough translation:
Rules for the Caravan Expedition
1.All actions must follow the Chief Muleteer (the guide).
2.Bring your own gear and food; feed your own horse and mule.
3.Be responsible for the safety of yourself, your mule and horse.
4.You need to pay for your own mule, horse and the cost of the trip each day.
5.You must pay for the damaged supplies according to the original price.
