Launched a contest yesterday over on instagram, but wanted to post here too to give flickr members the chance to participate. *Cue copy n paste:

CONTEST - ~Please read all if entering~ To celebrate reaching 1k followers on Instagram, I thought I should do something good.

CONTEST THEME: 'Artwork Inspired'

*Source media includes unique sculptures, artist impressions and generally unique art of any character you want.

The Idea here is to create something new and Unique based off sources people currently haven't used.

COMIC BOOK ART DOES NOT COUNT.

CONTEST RULES:

Painted Customs, decals and purists can enter

Figures can be based on whatever characters you want, HOWEVER more adventurous designs will get you significantly higher points. Perhaps mix two themes, (i.e Star Wars and Romans or batman and Cowboys) I do Not want to see generic marvel/DC figures based off of any onscreen or comic book portrayals.

TO ENTER:

1. You can submit a maximum of 3 figures. Quality over quantity.

2. All figures created since the 1st September can be entered, but New customs will get More points.

3. You must repost this photo with the tag me in it. AS WELL AS you entries.

4. Additionally All entries must have myself tagged:

Contest Ends 8th October. Results released the following day.

CONTEST PRIZE:

True to the theme, my first 'artwork inspired' custom... Obi-Wan Kenobi: Desert Nomad.

1st Place will receive Obi, as well as an invitation to join the group account @lego_scum (Instagram only).

There will be 2-3 Runners up (depending on number of entries), who will each receive a shoutout/be featured on my page.

As always, there will be honourable mentions.

BONUS HINTS:

Congrats you read on, so here's you reward:

1. One thing I particularly favour in figs is attention to detail. This may not be simply lots and lots of detail, perhaps a particular 'jaw line' on a helmet or visor which is clean cut and sharply angled. Getting specific details right will earn additional points.

2. Secondly the images above are all 'expressive'. Whether it's a stylised robe, elaborately shaped accessories or an entire surrounding environment connected to the figure (see the venom above), these additional details will significantly increase points.

3. I'm looking to be impressed, but that does not mean you have to produce the cleanest and most intricate figure. Sometimes simplicity and uniqueness works best. Take my previous winner Mark Brockway on Instagram as an example. He created the only figure based off TFA pirate smuggler (with peg leg). It wasn't the most detailed of all, but it 'struck a chord' and instantly became one of my favourites.

I'll post updates and more details later on. For now... Happy Painting!

In hindsight, my original 300 follower contest was probably a little hard to follow. Since Its been around 3 weeks and there have been a whopping zero entries, I’ve decided to do a different contest, one that should hopefully be simpler.

The new contest involves the green lantern mythos, one of my favourite parts of the DC mythos, alongside the new gods. Your task: Create your own OC Lantern character. It can be from any of the Corps from the comics (even the two new ones in Rebirth, as little as I know or care about them). The character could be a self-insert of you as a lantern or an entirely original character (they don’t even have to be human, you could use an alien species from the comics or even make one up).

The entry can be realised through Lego, drawing or any other medium that meets your fancy. What I expect is a good, unique design with a backstory. I am not demanding a complex 10 paragraph odyssey, just something to get who the character is across, but if you want to go all out with the story, don’t let me stop you.

Prizes. I can’t do anything physically unfortunately, but that shouldn’t be what this is about. My hope is to get people to put out their designs and gain the satisfaction if they get a placement. However, I do have some rewards in mind.

All winners, 3rd, 2nd and 1st, will get a shoutout. 2nd and 1st place will have their characters named dropped in my GL Series. 1st place will earn the opportunity to change my Flickr name to something of their choice, regardless of how ridiculous it is. I will keep that name for 2 weeks, before returning to my normal one (I figure a good incentive to get people to enter would be the opportunity to watch me suffer).

The Contest will close on the 9th June, my birthday. Good luck. There is a group below in which you can place your entries…

Any questions, please comment below!

What are you doing all the way down here? Oh... ಠ_ಠ. Here have some money and leave [̲̅$̲̅(̲̅5̲̅)̲̅$̲̅] [̲̅$̲̅(̲̅5̲̅)̲̅$̲̅] [̲̅$̲̅(̲̅5̲̅)̲̅$̲̅] [̲̅$̲̅(̲̅5̲̅)̲̅$̲̅]

Hey Guys!

Now, before I begin, I just want you guys to know how DEEPLY SORRY I AM! I never should have started a contest that I knew I couldn't keep up with!

Anyways, here are the long awaited results! Lets start from bottom (not really)to top: Our "Honorable Mentions" are the ones who did an amazing job, but just couldn't make it into the top three. We have The Customizing One, Michael Flanagan and The Lego News Reporter! Give them a round of applause (Do it or I'll kill you)! Now, in third place, we have...Delta Customs! Great job, man, I really liked your Joker, and overall, all of your customs were very clean! Your prize is the black and white Joker Arkham City teaser! In second place, we have...TheLegoZealot! Your Robin was amazingly painted, and you got every detail. Your prize is the Hammer/ Mr. Hammer from Arkham City! And now, the moment we've all been waiting for: In first place we have...TheMooseFigs! Your customs were very nice, again I loved your Joker, you got the colors just right, and your Batman was great as well. Your prize is my Arkham Knight! Give them all a round of applause (I have my knife ready if you don't)!

To those of you who didn't get mentioned, give yourselves around of applause, too (that shouldn't be too hard, should it?)! You all did very well, this was a tough decision to make! I got a lot more entries than I expected, and you guys are just the best for being so paitient! <3

Again, thanks for entering everyone, congrats to the winners, and goodbye!

Enchantment's Viking Saga Photo Contest

There were a couple of people who said they wanted to enter the 25 Follower Contest but haven't. Here's your reminder. The contest ends on September 30 unless people need more time.

Get building everyone!

A rather old picture for a contest I participated in, in which you had to take a group shot of your EAH or MH dolls along with the logo shown here and if your picture got the most likes, you'd win either a EAH or MH doll of your choice.

I was planning to ask for Raven Queen (I didn't have her at the time) if I won, but unfortunately the thing turned into a mess, with people using bots and cheating with their amount of likes. The hostess ended up choosing the winner randomly, and I ended up buying Raven myself later.

Contest Announcement here

Hey guys, remember this?

Cos I sure didn't

I'm really sorry I didn't realise I started this back in like May lmao

Seriously I'm sorry but I will end it now. Here's a post to prove I said that. If it doesn't end on Wednesday feel free to track me down, fill my pockets full of meatballs and throw me in a piranha pond or something.

So 3 winners? I'll have to look at the entries again because at this point you've waited so long that you're all winners.

There is no physical prize and even there was you'd probably have to wait another 6 months :p

I'll give you a shoutout and you can demand I make a minifigure (or as many as you want I - need inspiration) for you. Also feel free to harass me until I do it.

Anyway the contest WILL end in 2 days so there may be a little time to get another entry in if you didn't know about the contest but I will not be extending it any further. I've put it off for long enough as it is.

Here is the original post: flic.kr/p/24v9U4G

And here is the contest group: flic.kr/g/ta4bR

Think that's everyone, if you're not there link your entry in the comments so I can judge you!

I recently hit 112 followers, the same number of followers as I have on my old account, so I thought that was contest worthy. Prizes for the contest are as follows:

3rd place gets a shout out.

2nd place gets a shout out and a custom minifigure of your request.

And 1st place gets a shout out, and a one-shot comic of your request.

Now, I know what you're wondering: What is the contest? Well, while this may sound odd, it is to make a fig, drawing, or build of a book accurate Balrog from LotR! For those who have not read LotR and don't know the description of a Balrog and still want to enter the contest, here's a description:

Around 6'4''. Skin's not certain, possibly bronze or red. Long arms. Should have armour, no plate. Claws and fangs, compared to steel. Long hair, possibly on fire, but not made of fire. Eyes glowing yellow, flaming nostrils. Helmet. Tolkien tended to make helmets conical, but a Balrog's helmet isn't ever described. Human-shaped. Evil. Cloaked in fire and shadow. The shadow dims the fire, rather than the fire lighting the shadow. The shadow obscures the Balrog, but not enough for details even as small as its nostrils to be unseen. Shadow spreads out quite far. It should carry a whip made of fire in one hand, and one of several weapons in the other: a flaming sword's probably the best choice, but maces and a black axe in one case are also mentioned. If it's the axe, it's Gothmog, lord of Balrogs, so he should be especially terrifying. Make it terrifying even if it's not Gothmog.

Contest ends on June 14th, exactly one month from now. Have fun, and hope you enter!

~Madam Web

First off all congrats to the winners. Second of all sorry that I'm so late with announcing this. So the first place goes to Caleb Huet for this really cool small build. I like the build of it and it looks cool. Second place goes to Ephram Sinnwell for this cool figures and the plot twist in the comments XD. And the third place goes to Schwa 77 for this fun idea of Hawkeye's sidekick so Hawkeye never has no arrows left. Congrats to the winners and thanks for entering everyone. And I hope you'll enter my next contest too.

'House stripes for Minoan homes 1+2... by Su_G': close up of linen-cotton-canvas tea towels printed by Spoonflower - hanging on my stove door before despatch...

Original: crayon on canvas.

© Su Schaefer 2016

The acid yellow (or chartreuse) version was my entry in the Spoonflower/ Roostery Tea Towel Contest: Home is Where the Heart Is (and I loved the easy to obey instruction to "Keep it quirky or make it traditional– just be authentic!").

These little houses are modeled on the stone, clay and timber-framed houses of ancient Crete as depicted in found miniature faience plaques. I'm hoping they might suit the ardent archaeologist who needs matching tea towels. In the meantime they are a camping goods present for my friend's new trailer.
