This is an example of what a container house can look like.

This is an example of a 40" shipping container home.

This recycled home is primarily made of two shipping containers connected by a spiral staircase. The house is rather spacious with fully furnished kitchen, bathroom, livingroom, home office and two bedrooms. I've always been fascinated by container houses and this is my first try to create one. The angles of the upper container and the staircase were the greatest challenges of this building project.

Here is London's Container City, where old shipping containers have been recycled into artists' studios and offices — developed by architects Nicholas Lacey and Partners along with Urban Space Management at Trinity Buoy Wharf, London Borough of Tower Hamlets.

Hafen City via Niederbaumbrücke Bridge - Hamburg, Germany.

HafenCity Hamburg is a project of city-planning where the old harbourquarters of Hamburg are built on with offices, hotels, shops, official buildings and residential areas. The project is one of the largest rebuilding projects in Europe in the 21st century.

The area of the HafenCity used to be part of the free port, but with the decreased economic importance of free ports in an era of European Union free trade, large container ships and increased border security, the Hamburg free port was reduced in size, removing the current HafenCity area from its restrictions.

When completely developed it will be home to about 12,000 people and the workplace of 40,000 people mostly in office complexes. The prospect for completion is not very clear but will probably be around 2020-2030.

It's always nice to wake up early in the morning, no matter how much you really don't want to, and be welcomed with a gorgeous light like this. Five o'clock is not quite a comfortable time for me to head out for a photo shoot, but as soon as I came out of Baumwall station and saw a perfect blue like this, I was glad I did. It was also beneficial to me that morning traffic was light, as this bridge vibrates everytime a car passes.

Speicherstadt - Hamburg, Germany.

Speicherstadt is the world-largest timber-pile founded warehouse district of the world. It is located in the port of Hamburg, within the HafenCity quarter, and was built from 1883 to 1927.

The district was built as a free zone to transfer goods without paying customs. As of 2009 the district and the surrounding area is under redevelopment. The warehouses were built with different support structures, but Andreas Meyer created a Neo-Gothic red-brick outer layer with little towers, alcoves, and glazed terra cotta ornaments.

The warehouses are multi-storey buildings with entrances form water and land. The 17 warehouses of the Speicherstadt, each seven or eight storeys high, constitute the world's largest remaining warehouse complex from the late 19th and early 20th century - an urban ensemble of outstanding integrity and quality.
