After the 1988 earthquake people were given shipping containers for makeshift homes. There are still lots of them all over the city, painted, extended, adapted and looking rather like permanent fixtures.

i don't usually like to paint things, but i found the all white paint kind of boring and like it w/ the blue more.
Although most of the equipment has its origins as conventional freight or passenger equipment, it is all customized for use on the RBB&B train. These containers look like everyday freight containers, but they aren't. If you look closely, you can see where they've been welded onto the flat cars.
A container service from Trafford Park threads its way through the side of Manchester Piccadilly just after the morning rush. This section of line is a major bottleneck and finding daytime freight paths is certainly difficult.
containers are trendy among architects, but sometimes no design projects look better!
i wonder if they use the second floor doors ...

Containerproject
Bouwafval, gedumpt in containers kan soms hele mooie artistieke beelden opleveren. In het verleden heb ik dat al vaker gefotografeerd maar dan zonder de container er bij. Dit gaat veranderen.
Vanaf nu (maart 2018) zal ik bij elke containerfoto ook een foto plaatsen van de container zelf.
Ik plaats hier alleen containers die ik in Den Haag heb gezien. Ik zal er ook de straatnaam bij vermelden.
