We left the headshot/portrait session until the end of the night - around 1am - as I find I'm usually more creative after making some really terrible photos first.

Sarah is a trooper - she joined us in the middle of the night to hike up a hill, hold the light stands, get in and fall out of the wheel barrow and finally sit still while we blasted her with focusing lights.

I owe her a soju cocktail.

Strobist Information:

SB-28: 1/4 power, high and slightly camera right, shoot through umbrella

SB-25: 1/8 power, gridded, aimed at the center of Sara's back

SB-80x: 1/16 power, gelled red, shot through the stump

It often seems like I make fun of my other account on this one. And while it's true there's some truly bad photography over there due to the nature of trying to get a photo a day, there are some photographs that got good responses, favorited, and the like.

On this account for the next few days, I'm going to post some of my favorites from the Project 365 account.

And, hey, if worse comes to worse, I'll just delete them again from this account.

JUNE 7, 2007:

I think by June 7, 2007, I realized that I still had not taken a photo that I would display on my main stream here on flickr.

Many of the photos on that stream are candid shots of the people of Chicago.

This was an attempt to get one of those shots. It didn't work out quite as I would have hoped so here it is on this account instead.

Took this series of photos through a window at the Colorado History Museum in Denver of a construction worker taking his lunch a few floors up in a parking garage being built across the street from the museum. Not sure what he was eating but he was obviously enjoying it and the view.

As a result of shooting through a window there is some reflection of lights on the glass. Worse I had just taken some HDR photos and had failed to take my camera off auto-bracketing. So when I tried to take several fast shots I instead got three shots, with the last two being 2 stops under & over-exposed. I also wasn't holding the camera very steady, being in a rush, so each shot wasn't very well aligned.

This was a good exercise for me in using Lightroom. Having shot in RAW I was for the most part able to match the exposure of these photos up. I then exported to Elements to put the 3 shots in document in layers so I could line them up a little better, cropped them to the same dimensions, and then constructed this sequence.
