Restoration and building work are well under way on the pub and 89-bedroom Wetherspoon hotel being created on the site consisting of a row disused buildings. Until the 1940s the convent of the Little Sisters of the Assumption, established in the 1890s was located here and their former chapel forms part of the hotel.
The pub’s name refers to the fact that Camden Street Upper and Lower are part of an ancient highway into the city of Dublin. Note the Irish for Camden street is Sráid Port Caoimhin
