Illuminated (as if) by the headlights of a car
1:12 scale model made from cardboard and construction paper.
Dear Makayla,
You just have to take it one step at a time. Things will get easier from here. Those little things that remind you of him soon won't have the same effect. All the 8's you see soon won't mean anything more than just another number. Soon you'll be able to work up enough courage to listen to and delete the saved voicemails he left off your phone. Soon you'll be able to erase all the old pictures of you two
but for now the sight is too painful to see. His facebook posts soon won't make your stomach tie into knots. You'll start to dream of him less and less. Seeing him soon won't make your heart drop. Knowing he's better off without you soon won't make you sick to your stomach. And soon enough, he'll be out of everything; everywhere but your heart. And that, that is okay. Everything is going to be okay.
Always,
Your mind

I want to thank everyone who commented on my video from yesterday about praying for my memere. And I especially want to thank the Flickroos who posted the link in their description. (Those Flickroos are tagged)
I'm sending out my prints tomorrow! Hopefully. Lol. Yayayay!
Speaking about prints, I'm thinking about having monthly contests. They'll be themed like: Best Golden Hour, or Best Silhouette. Stuff like that. I'll leave that open for a week, have you guys enter your best photos that fit that months theme. Then I'll pick the top 10 that I think deserve to win. Then I'll make a collage out of those and post that up here and leave that up for a week. Fellow flickroos will comment on that collage with the one they think should win. The picture with the most votes will win a free print [either 5x7 or 8x10 depending on how nice the machine at the store wants to be to me] Lemme know what you think cause I'd really love to do that! Sounds like it would be fun :) But I need your input!
Class With Daves: The Audit Group ~ Assignment 2: "I've been dying to try it again, and now is the time for Art Re-creation Redux. Re-create a work of art as a photograph. If possible, provide a link to the original work for comparison purposes. The definition of "art" is up to you, but this will be more interesting if people recognize the original (let's stay away from paintings your friend did, for example). Note that you are not photographing art, you are recreating a work of art as an original photograph."

The little guy is always so happy when his papa swings him around up in the air.
Dear Makayla,
I know how badly you want to just be happy. So, let yourself. The only person who stands in the way of your happiness is no one but yourself. Don’t let him bring you down; you are far too strong of a person to let him break you into pieces.
I have faith in you, Makayla. You just need to have faith in yourself. And I know deep down inside, you do. But you just have to embrace it. I’m not quite sure why you’re afraid of doing so.
This is day two; day two of your journey without him.
Always,
Your Mind
I edited the crap out of this. I kinda love it :]
My computer has been very slow lately and I haven’t been able to keep up with everyone’s streams. I’m sorry :/ I’ll try to comment back tonight.

I am thankful for a lot of things.
I am thankful ...
for my health
for my friends
for my husband
for my cats
for the world I live in
for the food in my belly
for the roof over my head
for the clothes on my back
but most of all
I am thankful I am not a turkey behind a fence at this time of the year.

A construction paper rendition of Pac-Man consuming bowtie pasta.
i was told by a person here on flickr that i "over do" it. he was specific to my over-editing and drastic contrast regarding my photography.
i'm pretty sure he's right about that, but i also over do it w/ my art style. and i've influenced my students to do the same.
oops.
but maybe that's not a bad thing afterall. maybe it's just nice that everyone has a different style. i don't know.
I just happened to have photographed his big butt as he ski'd across my table.
This is also for the Challenge Clarity because two things are very clear here. One, Santa's Butt and two, I'm definitely getting a lump of coal for Christmas after this.
View ... I wouldn't giggle if I were you, Santa's very sensitive.

You can change the shape of the bokeh with a construction paper cut-out. Even the fill-flash in my dog's eye turns into a bone shape. I don't understand how it works but here is a link to a picture of how I did it and some links to websites that give further instruction: www.flickr.com/photos/54241790@N03/6547052557/in/photostr...

In Explore. As far as I know my first and only pictrure in Explore. I saw it there just randomly looking at Explore pics. I then went to the third party website and learned it had a date of December 20, 2011 and #298. Obviously not a great picture but I guess I got enough comments and views to fit the Flickr criteria.
Corny title :p

Oh! I'm getting red put in my hair tomorrow :) andddd a haircut.
This morning I awoke, slapped goggles on my cat and explained to him I was putting him in a small plane and he needed to fly it. He bitch slapped me, flung the contents of the cat box across the floor, called me an idiot and sashayed out of the room. I took that as a maybe.

I can't Photoshop worth beans. I can erase the occasional line or so but if it comes to cutting and pasting or layers, within 20 minutes I'm rolling across the floor flailing my arms and crying. Since my photos are sometimes "out there" a bit (Where else can you find a cat in a hat flying across the sky behind a fence) I have to construct a photo using practical effects

Since joining Flickr in May 2009, I've been enthralled by the vibrant tapestry of colors, cultures, and perspectives shared by this incredible community. To celebrate Flickr's 20th Birthday, I wanted to create an image that embodies that spirit: a burst of joy in Flickr's iconic blue and pink, captured through the magic of macro photography.
These pins, scattered like confetti, celebrate 20 years of community. Each one, like each image on Flickr, igniting wonder and creativity. Here's to 20 more years of pushing the boundaries of creativity, together!
On March 6th, 2024 this photograph was selected as one of the winners for Flickr's 20th Birthday Photo Contest: blog.flickr.net/en/2024/03/06/presenting-our-20th-birthda...

and Orange. Poor orange. At least it's not brown. Is brown really a color? And whats up with my blue? It was supposed to be red, I have no clue what color it is now but it ain't red. And my green woodless pencil. Isn't that really a crayon for adults? What kind of pencil has no wood? And they make sucky crayons because no where on the package does it say NON TOXIC so I can't even eat them. Where's my paste?!

Back in high school, every morning we would stand, face the flag hanging on the wall and recite the Pledge Of Allegiance. Being me, one morning I decided to no more recite my Allegiance to a flag. Upon noticing me not even standing up let alone reciting, the Teacher asked me if something was wrong. I replied, that I decided as of today not to recite my allegiance to the flag since it was nothing but an object. She told me I was missing the point, I was pledging my allegiance to the United States Of America. My reply, brilliantly composed in my head was, isn't the USA built on the principle of Freedom for all and my Freedom to NOT pledge my allegiance to a Flag? She smiled and nodded her head and quietly said, speaking of Principal, why don't you go see him.

After the fiasco of trying to capture Santa Clause last Christmas, I've decided to go after the Easter Bunny. How hard can it be after all. I've got a carrot and ... dang it, I ate the carrot.

I wanted to take another stab at a construction paper wallpaper. This time I shot it specifically with the dimensions of the Pixel 4a in mind, but it should work with most phones with a little cropping. You can view and download this, and the other wallpapers from my website: art.katzmatt.com/Wallpapers/
The third graders where I work made cheeseburger collages. The students displayed their works on the wall near my work office. I found this one to be of exceptional quality
Here's a practical collection of paper textures with lovely grain. The set features fourteen (14) base textures. There are two textures per included color of the spectrum: blue, dark green, light green, orange, tan, red, and purple.
The source material is slightly heavier than normal craft paper, which provides lovely grain, small creases, and other similar goodness.
The textures are available in color, black and white (light, dark), and color negative. These variations provide you with the most flexibility possible, for any use case possible.
These are fantastic as background elements, or as textural/color elements. My favorite blending modes for the latter include Overlay or Soft light when using the color versions, and in addition Screen or Lighten when using the black and white versions.
Each texture was scanned at 1,200 ppi, slightly edited in Photoshop (cropping, contrast, saturation), then finalized in crisp 18"x24" @ 300 ppi files.
---
- Fifty-six (56) textures in total
- 18"x24" @ 300 ppi (7,200 x 5,400 pixels)
- Archive size: 2.77 GB
