EN: Nicknamed "Het Spookhotel" (The ghost hotel) or "Swamp Hotel" by Urban Explorers, this building is the result of an unfortunately never accomplished project: the construction of a 19-storeyed hotel launched around 1969. The works were interrupted when the builders discovered that the ground was swampy, and thus unstable. An error from them? The fact remains that for more than 40 years, the concrete foundations of the first 2 floors of the hotel have been abandoned, in a site which is now overgrown.

Les travaux furent en effet interrompus lorsque les constructeurs découvrirent que le sol était marécageux, et donc instable. Une erreur de leur part? Toujours est-il que depuis plus de 40 ans, les fondations en béton des 2 premiers étages de l'hôtel sont laissées à l'abandon, dans un espace qui a été petit a petit envahi par la nature.
After a month-long hiatus, construction has resumed on Route 148 through Shawville. Yesterday they laid down the concrete curbs.

It’s been a while since we checked in on the construction next to my office. This was taken from the 8th floor windows looking east. The Whole Foods on the left is coming along and a parking ramp has sprung up between it and the apartment tower (the advertised apartment rents are eye-popping). The office building has tenants now and more are moving in (viewed large, you can see a moving van). You can see cars on the roof of its parking ramp on the right. It also looks like workers may be laying a brick or flagstone lane at right center.
