Here are the two of them together. I would have prefered red wheels for the red and black engine, but I just did not have the red wheels for the tender and I don't think they make the very small wheels in red for the front truck, at least I have never seen them?

Ok I think I have finally gone overboard.

Yesterday Deb went shopping at Penny's.

Next door to penny's is an antique shop. A huge antique shop.

So I killed some time just browsing. Not really looking for anything in particular. Then I spotted this puzzle of a copy of the Constitution. While not a puzzle that I would have thought to purchase the addiction got a hold of me and I bought it. It looks to be a challenge. We will see.

Then later in the day Deb reminded me that it was half price day at Goodwill and she wanted to look for books. Even though we already have more books than we will read in a lifetime, she loves going and buying more. Especially when they are so cheap.

And of course i found two puzzles that caught my eye.

The Fifties junk pile really caught my eye and I had to have it.

The Earth Angle puzzle was something I saw someone do here on Flickr and so of course I needed that one too.

In all fairness there were more puzzles there that I did not purchase, but these two for a dollar each was something I could not ass up.

I do need an intervention I think.

Deb thinks so too.

UŽUPIS

The self-proclaimed “Republic” of Užupis is Vilnius’ Bohemian and artistic district. It has its own anthem, constitution, president, bishop, two churches, the Bernadine Cemetery – one of the oldest in the city -, seven bridges, and its own guardian called The Bronze Angel of Užupis, who was put in the centre of the district in 2002.

Dating back to the 16th century, Užupis is one of Vilnius’ oldest districts and despite its current prestigious status, was formerly the city’s poorest area and home to a number of manual workers and a red light-district.

During the Soviet era, the authorities let Užupis go to ruin, and it quickly gained notoriety as the roughest districts in the city. Since Lithuania regained its independence in 1991, artists came and took advantage of the cheap accommodation, and moreover, the city’s art academy is located across the bridge from Bernadinų Gardens. Now its thriving creative community hosts regular fashion festivals, concerts, exhibitions and poetry evenings.

In Lithuanian, Užupis means ‘behind the river’ and this is proclaimed in a number of languages on its entrance sign. The Vilnelė is the district’s river, and is home to Lithuania’s only mermaid – she’s not real, don’t worry! But she lives on the embankment, and those who give in to her charms will remain in Užupis forever.

USS Constitution, a wooden-hulled, three-masted heavy frigate of the United States Navy built in 1797, berthed at Pier 1 of the former Charlestown Navy Yard, at one end of Boston's Freedom Trail. We visited the ship in the evening of our day spent in Boston, Massachusetts in September 2005.

A Constitution nevű háromárbócos vitorláshajó a bostoni kikötőben. A hajó 1797-ben épült, részt vett számos háborúban, így 1812-ben több brit hajót is legyőzött. Akkori sikereivel vívta ki a tiszteletet, ami később megmentette a pusztulástól, így ma múzeumhajóként is a haditengerészet aktív állományában van 60 fős legénységével. 2005. szeptemberében jártunk itt a családdal bostoni egynapos látogatásunk végén.

USS Constitution is a wooden-hulled, three-masted heavy frigate of the United States Navy, named by President George Washington after the Constitution of the United States of America. She is the world's oldest commissioned naval vessel afloat, launched in 1797. Constitution was one of six original frigates authorized for construction by the Naval Act of 1794 and the third constructed. Joshua Humphreys designed the frigates to be the young Navy's capital ships, and so Constitution and her sisters were larger and more heavily armed and built than standard frigates of the period, built in Boston, Massachusetts, at Edmund Hartt's shipyard. Her first duties with the newly formed U.S. Navy were to provide protection for American merchant shipping during the Quasi-War with France and to defeat the Barbary pirates in the First Barbary War. Constitution is most famous for her actions during the War of 1812 against the United Kingdom, when she captured numerous merchant ships and defeated five British warships: HMS Guerriere, Java, Pictou, Cyane, and Levant. The battle with Guerriere earned her the nickname of "Old Ironsides" and public adoration that has repeatedly saved her from scrapping. She continued to serve as flagship in the Mediterranean and African squadrons, and circled the world in the 1840s. During the American Civil War, she served as a training ship for the United States Naval Academy. She carried US artwork and industrial displays to the Paris Exposition of 1878. Retired from active service in 1881, Constitution served as a receiving ship until designated a museum ship in 1907. In 1934 she completed a three-year, 90-port tour of the nation. Constitution sailed under her own power for her 200th birthday in 1997, and again in August 2012, to commemorate the 200th anniversary of her victory over Guerriere. Constitution 's stated mission today is to promote understanding of the Navy's role in war and peace through educational outreach, historic demonstration, and active participation in public events. As a fully commissioned US Navy ship, her crew of 60 officers and sailors participate in ceremonies, educational programs, and special events while keeping the ship open to visitors year round and providing free tours. The officers and crew are all active-duty US Navy personnel and the assignment is considered special duty in the Navy. Traditionally, command of the vessel is assigned to a Navy Commander. Constitution is berthed at Pier 1 of the former Charlestown Navy Yard, at one end of Boston's Freedom Trail.
