During the second dark-sky portion of January, I elected to compose a nightscape with Orion as the main subject. I hauled myself up to Oak Flats (a better location for deep sky than my backyard!). In this case I also used my Sky Watcher, and my Canon EOS Ra was equipped with the Samyang 14mm. I captured 6 4-minute exposures at f5.6 and ISO 800. My process of the sky image was similar to other deep sky work, and I blended it with the landscape shot at the same location, same time.
Orion, the Pleaides, Sirius, and the Milky Way all figure in the sky, along with a host of H-alpha emission regions.
I'm sure a bit more time and maybe some even darker skies would get the deep sky to show even better, though I'm pretty pleased with this effort close to home!

Travellers to The Frozen Planet have reported seeing a constellation in the night sky which is visible for just a few days during our month of December. It is called SC+8 because of its resemblance to Santa Claus + 8 reindeer. This is the first photo to reportedly show the constellation.

This is a macro photo of side-lit pins, arranged so that their shadows created the constellation of Orion.
Constellations are imaginary lines humans have drawn between jumbled messes of stars, drawing upon our myths, beliefs and narratives to craft monuments of light in the sky.

It was so good to finally go to Chicago again. I haven't been to Chicago since 2019. 29 foot tall "Constellation" was designed by Spanish architech Santiago Calatrava.

The Breitling Super Constellation takes to the skies at the 2016 Zigermeet air show in Mollis. Sadly she has been grounded since signs of corrosion were found on the main spar.

on friday, we received a brief but fierce spring snowstorm. yet at sunset, the clouds moved on. the snow and ice were illuminated. our kitchen window appeared as a constellation. a unique set of shapes, never to be seen again. i watched that window for a long while. everyday scenes can be magical.

There was a visible sunrise in Baltimore today but it only lasted about 15 minutes and I caught it from the upper deck of the Light Street Pavilion overlooking the USS Constellation at the Inner Harbor.
Orion is clearly visible in the night sky from November to February.
The Orion Nebula - a formation of dust, hydrogen, helium and other ionized gases rather than a star - is the middle "star" in Orion's sword, which hangs off of Orion's Belt.
Other stars in the constellation include Mintaka, Alnilam and Alnitak which form Orion's belt, are the most prominent stars in the Orion constellation.
The Blue-white star Rigel, in the constellation Orion, is one of the brightest stars in the night sky.
Early in the afternoon I received the iOptron SkyGuider Pro and could not wait to try it out.
In the evening, as I was taking pictures of the Orion Constellation, the clouds started to move in adding a pink tone to the blue sky.
