Erected to commemorate Constantine I's victory over Maxentius at the Battle of Milvian Bridge on October 28, 312. Dedicated in 315, it is the latest of the existing triumphal arches in Rome.
Constantine was proclaimed Emperor in York in AD306. He was the first Christian Roman Emperor and made Christianity an acceptable religion of the Roman Empire.

Craggy-faced Eddie Constantine (1917 - 1993) was an American actor and singer who spent his career as a tough guy in European films. He became famous for a series of French B movies in which he played private eye Lemmy Caution, based on the hero of the detective novels by Peter Cheyney.
