Here is a description of this portion of the trail described in our hiking book. From this description I almost went on the alternate route. I'm so glad I didn't. It was an amazing feeling to conquer a fear and it really was no where near as bad as I thought it woud be.

Description of WatchTower Trail:

"The path ascends moderately for a mile to the Watchtower, then climbs out on the granite ledge. Beyond the Watchtower, the dizzying path traces the cliff face, far, far, above Tokopah Valley. Great views are below if you dare take your eyes off the precipitous trail.
