"Macro Mondays”
“Happy 10 Years!”
Well deserved celebration from we, all the members of Macro Mondays! Thanks for all these great years!
What does Spain winning the World Cup have to do with this photo? They were ferocious in their play and a spotted moray has a ferocious appearance? I know, a bit of a stretch, but Spain deserves a shout out for their remarkable achievement.
Spotted moray are relatively common, but for some reason I don't have a posted image of one. So here it goes.
Although those teeth are scary, they are harmless to divers as long as you don't mess with them, or smell like fish.
They are typically about 50-75cm long (and of course look 1/3rd longer underwater than they actually are). They open their jaws to get water flowing through the gills, which gives them that "I am about to lunge and bite you" look.
By placing the strobes on either side of the moray, you can light the fish while leaving the inner mouth dark. I like how that leaves the viewer uncertain just how deep their "throat" goes.
It seems yesterday that we met us...
instead they are already five months.
You are in my mind and in my heart every moment of the day...
when it rains, when there is the sun,
when I am sad and when I am happy.
You are everything that I need,
you are what I want... now and forever
Denise Wirtanen do you want to marry me?

In this life we all search for something
Something good and something oh so pure
Well I believe that if you find that one thing
You must fight, for then you will be sure
Could it be that I have found an angel
I can see heaven in your eyes
In my soul I never will be lonely
For there will be an angel by my side...
Stay tuned for the wedding Nov 15th, 2008

This time of the year this species can be uncharacteristically cheeky & "agitated" as part of their distraction routine when one is near a nesting area.
In this case it was equal parts 'distraction " & curiosity regarding the family dog, a Pomeranian named Riddle, with whom at times i tromp around with....
Often the birds come out to see "What is that animal?"
So the excuse of walking the dog gets me out & about ... looking at wildlife
:)
especially around farms
I must stress however that there are places where Dog Walking is not appropriate and i will not go with a dog "in tow"
& yeah i have been "that guy" calling out people who let their dogs run around, out of control, harassing birds & wildlife
:l
