Looking like the Maestro conducting an orchestra, this Blue-winged Teal actually was facing off with a Coot that was harassing him.

Many birds spread their wings in this manner to dry them. However, I have observed this behavior in many bird species as a show of dominance, when facing a competitor, immediately after a mating, when confronting a foe, or when feeling threatened.

It is important to help and understand those who are going through hard times right now and are confronting depression some of whom are on the verge of committing suicide, we should help them all that we can. Everyone is important and counts!

(Bloomberg) -- Warren Buffett, whose economic insights are craved for Berkshire Hathaway Inc.’s deep ties to the American economy, had a gloomy prediction for his own businesses: the good times may be over.

“The majority of our businesses will report lower earnings this year than last year,” Buffett, 92, said, before crowds of thousands at the event on Saturday. During the last six months or so, the “incredible period” for the US economy has been coming to an end, he said.

Having been confronted head on by the dominant male this stag deferred and led the herd of young male and female deer up the hill. In his own time the dominant male left the clearing where they had been browsing and grazing to bring up the rear. With an occasioonal backward glance they were soon all out of sight.

I don't know what the bunting was for!

I am being bullied ....

This childish person , knows who they are , i know they look at my work , and i know they are dragging people INTO this.

I AM NOT SCARED OF YOU.

Your actions, your words, nothing is a secret. I know what happens when you are confronted. And I can read your petty behavior like a book.

I will not confront you but I know you will see this.

Bullying is not right. Using someone's suffering to make you feel better about yourself is not right. Think about how you want to be treated. Then think about how you treat everyone else. Take a look at yourself sweetie you are not as crafty as you think you are.

Thanks to everyone who has visited. I realise a confronting photo for some people.

I appreciate very much the kind comments and faves which have been left.

A huntsman spider, aka "Boris", probably Heteropoda jugulans. The same spider as in the next photo.

The spider was on a variegated bromeliad leaf in my garden. Huntsman spiders can also be found indoors.

Male and female huntsman spiders are similar in size with the males having longer legs. Actually, I am not sure whether this is a male or female. Unlike many spiders, the males do not risk being eaten after mating. Some species of huntsman spiders live in colonies.

Macrophotography has made me appreciate what a diverse and fascinating group of animals that spiders are.

"There’s a light that shines in the darkness.

There’s a destiny waiting at the end of the road.

There’s meaning in the middle of this emptiness.

There’s a reason you’ve been asked to carry this heavy load.

Lessons are taught when we reach out

Farther than we thought we’d ever dare.

Faith abounds when we confront our deepest doubts,

Enduring more than we dreamed we could ever bear.

There’s a dawn waiting at the edge of every midnight.

There’s a seed planted with every fallen leaf.

With every wrong there’s the chance to make a right.

With every hour of suffering there’s an eternity of relief.

Our darkest moments give us the opportunity

For seasons of our greatest growth.

Everyday we work towards continuity

Of acceptance and persistent hope"

For the #Macromonday #Yellow theme. Taken in my garden as the sunlight gently pushed through the shadows on one of my climbing shrubs against a wall.... Keep safe friends. Keep the hope alive... #MacroMondays

Thanks to everyone who has visited. A confronting photo for some people. I appreciate very much the kind comments and faves which have been left.

A huntsman spider, probably Heteropoda jugulans. Male and female huntsman spiders are similar in size with the males having longer legs and females slightly bigger bodies. Actually, I am not sure whether this is a male or female. Unlike many spiders, the males do not risk being eaten after mating. Some species of huntsman spiders live in colonies. Normally, huntsman spiders are nocturnal. However, this spider was out in the afternoon. It has eight eyes. The upper four appear closed. Perhaps it was squinting because of the bright light.

For the Macro Mondays theme "Inspired by a Song". The song I chose is "Boris the Spider" by the Who. Perhaps a slightly larger spider than the Who had in mind but definitely a little creepy. The spider was on a variegated bromeliad leaf in my garden and was left undisturbed after being photographed. Huntsman spiders can also be found indoors.

Macrophotography has made me appreciate what a diverse and fascinating group of animals that spiders are.

Boris the Spider by The Who

Look, he's crawling up my wall

Black and hairy, very small

Now he's up above my head

Hanging by a little thread

Boris the spider

Boris the spider

Now he's dropped on to the floor

Heading for the bedroom door

Maybe he's as scared as me

Where's he gone now, I can't see

Boris the spider

Boris the spider

Creepy, crawly

Creepy, crawly

Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly

Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly

Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly

Creepy, creepy, crawly, crawly

There he is wrapped in a ball

Doesn't seem to move at all

Perhaps he's dead, I'll just make sure

Pick this book up off the floor

Boris the spider

Boris the spider

Creepy, crawly

Creepy,…

Confronted again by old nemesis, the wind. It was a dark, dark night with the lighthouse beams only darkening the almost-pitch black area.

On a previous visit I had slipped in some mud and messed up my hand, thereby ending the evening. I was a little more careful this time, although the gusts of wind threatened to push me off the cliffs a number of times.

Heading back to the car, now completely windswept, we noticed that the previously empty car park had another car in it. Not the doggers again! Seems like everywhere I go there are mysterious cars just waiting... watching...

Papua Barat is the Indonesian (western) half of the island of New Guinea, called Irian Jaya when this photograph was taken in 1971 at the beginning of my career in the oil industry, about which I have second, third and fourth thoughts nowadays in retirement confronting the reality of climate change. The helicopter was a French Alouette piloted by American Vietnam vets. The helipad was cut from the jungle by the crew of Papua Barat locals seen here. We expats flew into the jungle to conduct geophysical surveys in search of oil. Life was different then! BTW, please excuse these ancient, archived photos, but the processing tools are so good nowadays it's hard not to have another look at the past!

Entering the gates at Lourdes, I was confronted by this massive crucifix with the glow of the evening sun as a beautiful backdrop.

The Peacock is a familiar sight in gardens across the British Isles and is unmistakable, with quite spectacular eyes on the upperside of the hindwings that give this butterfly its name. These eyes must appear very threatening to predators, such as mice, that confront this butterfly head-on, where the body forming a "beak", as shown in the image below.

The underside is a different matter altogether, being almost black, providing perfect camouflage when the butterfly is at rest on a tree trunk, or when hibernating. In addition to camouflage and large eyes, the butterfly is able to make a hissing sound by rubbing its wings together that is audible to human ears. All in all, this butterfly must appear very threatening to any predator that might come across it. This is a highly mobile butterfly that occurs throughout the British Isles, including Orkney and Shetland, although it is not found in parts of northern Scotland. However, its range does seem to be increasing, with sightings from new areas being recorded every year (Courtesy UK Butterflies).
