A very well know spot by now, thanks to some epic shots over the last several months from my fellow photographers like Michael Shainblum, Aron Cooperman, Jason Chong, Ken Xu, Jonathan Mitchell and many more people, this is one more shot to add to the magnificent Martins portfolio from 2015. It is from the evening when we had such an epic sunset across the Bay Area, with Martins being the best spot to shoot it from. With negative tides, all the tide pools at this beach were out and about letting us grab really nice reflections of the wizard hat sea stack visible here. I did take a bit of creative liberty in rearranging the tide pools to get my vision to reality with this shot. This sunset will forever remain etched in the Memory of all those who were there that evening, for the pond duration for which it burned with such intense color and light. The California coast is just the place to be when seascapers like me. Was shooting with Tarun Kottary, Jude Allen, Lakshminarayan Shyamsundar, Bruce Getty
A little further west and closer to the three rivers depicted in the previous post >>. The Waimakariri R. is the most obvious channel, with the Poulter coming in from the top, and the Esk coming in lower right. A fascinating landscape history here, with several remnants of old valley floors perched at higher levels.
A seething collision of water where the mighty rivers Flit (left) and Hit (right) join, leading into the long-abandoned River Ivel Navigation (ahead).
The meeting point of the Etherow on the left, and the Goyt on the right. On some older maps this marks the starting point of the River Mersey but modern convention is that the Goyt continues for another seven miles until it meets the Tame at Stockport. Until 1936 the far bank was in Derbyshire, but was then moved into Cheshire. Got all that?
The meeting of the rivers Loxley (left) and Rivelin in Malin Bridge, Sheffield. The bridge has wheeled transport on top - a tram - and below - a shopping trolley.
A tugboat passes through the confluence of the Three Rivers on a beautiful fall morning in Pittsburgh.
Floating blocks diluted to colors, color of the river, as you'd never hoped but you dreamed of, meeting the confluence......
On a cold night, Milwaukee's "Hop" streetcar crosses the Milwaukee River at its confluence with the Menomonee, eastbound on St Paul Ave, in a slight pan view. Slower shutter might've been better here, oh well.
The area in which Soda Butte Creek and the Lamar River meet is called "The Confluence" For whatever reason, it is one of the richest bottlenecks in Yellowstone for wildlife. I've seen dozens of different mammal and bird species from this spot over the years. Today I was hoping to find the river otters that frequent this spot in winter - likely because of the abundance of fish and the generous spots of open ice through which the otters can hunt and travel, but nobody was there this day. The only thing to be seen was the glorious landscape.
