There have been so many days this winter that I considered going out to take numerous doll photos, but I didn't. It was bitter cold most of the time and I was so focused on my dollhouse that I could not think of my dolls much. I'm happy to get a few late winter photos in the snow before it is gone.
Confidence.
If someone tells you that Rome wasn't built in a day, believe them. That's the one message i want to put out to anyone interested in riding dressage, i know that it has taken me months to get to where I am and I'm proud to awknowledge how far I've come. I have achieved such highs and after riding this month's test I can finally say I'm enjoying it, but that doesn't mean it came without its own set of issues.
This month I struggled with getting into my head, and who can blame me? I had to focus on not just learning a level four dressage test, but also preparing for a possible slolympic bid in showjumping and the dog and pony show. Somewhere along the lines i started to shake at the idea of having to sit down and do my dressage test, worried that everything would go wrong and that the sky would fall right on me and ruin my ride. I can be a perfectionist so this isn't abnormal for me, but it is a cycle i'm hoping to break as when you get this high up in the test level you don't have much time for nerves. And it was a long process of trying to rebuild the confidence that I had last month when I scored highest in dressage, I had to pretend i wasn't riding in front of my teacher and I had to remind myself that i'm here for a reason, you don't ride fourth level dressage on accident.
So I had to find my groove, both mentally and literally. This meant I needed some new music to ride to, as my calming classical wasn't building me up in a way that was helping me with my confidence. So I dug deep into my repour of music, and thought there was no better hype music than songs used on the hit ballroom dancing show 'Strictly Come Dancing' which is very popular where I live. It helps me connect when I see just how confident the dancers look when the music hits them just right.
And hey ho, guess it worked out! Me and Swan got a 92% on our dressage test! Now we have to rock on Saturday and well, I don't believe in manifestation but I do hope we do well!

Florida Av, Peaks Island in Casco Bay, Portland, Maine USA • Walls wait for no one. This historic facility is a daily-changing gallery of expressive graffiti. ~This past Saturday, October 24th was the annual (so-called secret) Sacred & Profane Festival, as always, held in the amazing Battery Steele (1942). Also known as U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Battery Construction #102, a United States military fortification, completed in 1942 as part of World War II, it is located on 14 acres (5.7 ha) on the oceanside area of the island. It is named for Harry Lee Steele, who was a coastal artillery officer during World War I. It was built to protect Casco Bay, particularly Portland harbor, from Kennebunk to Popham Beach in Phippsburg. – from Wikipedia. ~ It's now one of thirteen island parcels owned and managed by the Peaks Island Land Preserve
• Portland and the other harbors of southern Maine were terribly important ports. Civil War forts still dotted the islands around these harbors, but Portland now needed far more advanced fortifications to protect it from German attack.
So Peaks Island became home to over eight hundred soldiers. Concrete bunkers and observation posts are everywhere. On the far side of the Island are two huge abandoned gun turrets separated by several hundred feet of underground tunnel. Each held a monster 16-inch naval gun. The guns were test-fired only once. Their blasts broke windows all over the island and the recoil, transmitted through rock, caused small earthquakes. After the war, an Islander ran into a German U-boat captain who said he'd spent the war looking at Peaks Island -- through a periscope. … Invasive bittersweet vines, once planted as camouflage, now grow over that history. – From a report of a visit to the Island by John H. Trish joined us for a small group shoot at the end of January 2022. Trish is one of our best models and she is always being model-napped so I had limited time to shoot with her - that sucks. Trish always brings her A Game to a shoot. I can't wait for the next shoot when I get to spend more time with her!

I saw this lady selling colorful balloons,when we were caught in a traffic jam.When she came to know ,she is being clicked and is the center of attention,happily smiled and posed confidently(though not facing the camera)..soon,we had to move on.So missed few more good photographs,but glad to get this one.. :-)
