Some locations that we all photograph somehow leave a lasting memory and this is one such place.😉

Hoof, Horace and I made our way up to this lofty point, we were that high, we could almost touch the stars. As always we like to arrive in good time, suss up the location and take it all in.✨💫⭐️

As this is such a quiet spot, it has quite a spiritual feel about it, so much so Horace said he had a confession to make.🐷😱

Horace told Hoof and I that he had been frequenting the home of a very beautiful Wessex Saddleback called Pinky. We should point out that Horace met Pinky at a barn dance a couple of years back, it was well before he met the gorgeous Gloucester Old spot, Petula Trotterby-Smith, who we covered in the reportage “To The Rescue”🏡🐽❣️🐖

For those of you who like a romantic story, our Horace has been taking it very cautiously with Petula and is in fact being the perfect gentleman. A couple of evenings ago I asked Horace “have you been Skyping Petula” yes he said how do you know Bri, I responded “you are wearing your Hugo Boss aftershave for the discerning gentleman”.💕

Horace continued with his confession, and went on to say that during one of his overnight stays at Pinky’s house, he asked her if it was alright to go out on the beer with a couple of his mates, he kissed her goodbye and uttered those famous words “I’ll only have a couple of pints love”. 😘🐽🍺🍺

Horace went on to tell Hoof and I that he got absolutely loaded, in fact he was so drunk he could not lie on the floor without holding on.🙈🐷😜

Horace knew he was in for a massive telling off when he got back to Pinky’s house. Horace had an idea, he thought that if he took off all his clothes at the bottom of the stairs, then climb the stairs on his hands and knees with nothing on, so that when he arrived in the bedroom, Pinky would be so shocked that she would forget to tell him off, well it was worth a try.🏡👹

So Horace took off all his clothes, went up the stairs, and when he got to the top of the stairs, he was still on the bus.

Or rather the elephant in what remains of what i considered my darkroom - 16 rolls of undeveloped 35mm film (11 colour, 5 black & white) taken by me at some point in the 1980s, and then completely forgotten.

I can walk with piles of books on my head, even up and down stairs wearing heels and a floor skimming gown...deportment lessons, modeling classes and finishing schools teach such useful lessons for life at large ;D

The sign is true. Most of the time I would prefer to lose myself in the world on a page than that going on around me...except now I do so with my son, immersing him in a magical world of animals, myths, monsters, gallantry and knights.

The books on my head are from the childhood libraries of my Mother, Aunt and Grandpa...

Edited to correct the spelling...it was bugging me and I had hoped no-one would notice!! I don't know if you can see the editing...hopefully not ;)

~Story People~

About a year and a half ago my grandfather passed away. Since his passing, my grandmother's health has gotten progressively worse, which happens a lot when you've spent your entire life with someone and they die. Most recently, she went to live with my mom in Florida and about 3-4 weeks ago she had a stroke. She's been in a rehabilitation facility since then, and yesterday was the first chance I had to speak with her. My mom put us on speakerphone and I told her I missed her and loved her and hoped she would start feeling better soon. Her response was a slightly incoherent rambling about how they were running some reports of some kind. My mom quickly took us off of speakerphone and said, "Well, you get the idea..." . I said yes, said my goodbyes to my mom and hung up.

I sat in the car for a few minutes, tears welling in my eyes as they are now, and all I could think of is that I wish I'd somehow accomplished more earlier in life so that I'd maybe, just maybe have had more time to spend traveling to Maryland to visit her and my grandfather more often...

The last several times I did get to see her, she wasn't this bad off, but her sense of humor was always wicked and sharp as a tack. The Story People quote above isn't really related to the picture, but it reminds me of the type of thing she used to come up with.
