Bartolomé Island is named after Sir Bartholomew James Sulivan, an English naval lieutenant who participated in Darwin's voyage on the Beagle. The island is located to the east of Santiago Island. The eastern part of the island consists of volcanic cones, while the western part is a peninsula with several rock formations, including Pinnacle Rock, a steep volcanic rock.

A summer without shooting the beautiful and classic looking cone flower wouldn't be right - so here it is with a little added textures for HSS!

Summer in the city.

Everywhere there are new pine cones on the evergreen trees and they make a beautiful fall display. Pine cones are always of a very special significance to me; as far back as my early childhood.

I think this may be a Lodgepole Pine but.....

Yesterday we had a Nor'easter, good thing only 6" of snow around us. In Boston, it got 2ft of snow, plus strong wind, etc. Of course, took an outing to the park near me. It's freezing tho.

The village of Cartesiano above Messina in Sicily lies on a conical hill. Behind it is the Tyrrhenian Sea.

Cones developing on (I think) a Mexican white pine. More of the cones on the next image

The Mexican white pine is native to Mexico and Central America but lives well in temperate gardens and parks.

You can live years next door to a big pine tree, honored to have so venerable a neighbor, even when it sheds needles all over your flowers or wakes you, dropping big cones onto your deck at still of night.

As seen on a walk. I liked the message here, which clearly had something to note about the foreground.
