Today makes it a year since I opened my Flickr account. It is always difficult to begin in a place like this when you don't know anyone who has been around here for a while. I believe Flickr is like a big drawer where there are thousands of good photographs and people to be discovered. I'd like to thank my brother-in-law Jesús, who introduced me to Flickr and helped me in my beginnings.

I would also like to thank all the people who visit my photostream regularly, those who visit it occasionally, those who like leaving comments, etc.... because thanks to all these people I have the strength and the motivation to keep going.

This picture that I want to share with you, possibly represents one of the photographic variations I like the most. It's taken in the open, where the weather conditions play an important part and you have to adjust to them to capture something special. I have been thinking for a while which picture I would like to publish today and this has been my choice; the rest of the pictures that were in my final selection will also be published soon.

In this past year I have had good times and also misunderstandings. I got to know a group of people with whom I've shared more and become friends, of which I am very proud; among these: Gema, Eber, Pilar, Teresa, Toñy, Anna, Nathalie, Javi, Raúl, Juanma, Jesús, Rafael, Jesús CM. With some of them I've shared techniques, opinions or simply special moments and I have even met a few in person.

I hope to be able to go on sharing the world as I see it through my camera lense. Being myself passionate about photography, I enjoy looking at your pictures and in many cases, learning from you.

Here's a nerve-racking shot taken from Round Butte Oregon, two hours before total eclipse.

The conditions weren't looking good as Ralf Rohner and I set up our gear to capture the Eclipse in it's totality. After piling out of my sleeping bag and observing the conditions I was immediately regretting my decision to leave Smith Rock and seek a more open location further to the north and more west out of the smoke. As it turned out we went deeper into the situation as there was another smaller fire burning 5 miles to the west of the butte. Now at this point, it's impossible to get anywhere on pavement because of the insane crowds, so changing locations was out of the question. Damn it!! All these fires in California and I go to Oregon and get smoked out by more wildfires, just my luck!!! The day before, Ralf and I checked the area for a campground to stay at, but of course those where all sold out months in advance. So, as we rolled through town we noticed there were several farmers that had plowed their fields into campgrounds and were naming them with catching names, like the Eclipse Campground, or Skywatchers Campground. Intruged Ralf and I stopped in to see what they wanted for a spot. 100 dollars a night per car. Holy crap, I've stayed in a hotel in Denver for less than that and 10 dollars for a skinny bundle of wood. I told him No thanks, but, as a parting shot ask if a bottle of KY jelly was included, He wasn't amused or didn't get it, I'm not sure which, Hehe. :)😜

Thanks for taking the time to take a look at my photos, If you like them please share them with your friends or add it to your gallery, and as always your views, comments, faves, and support are greatly appreciated!!

Have a great day ahead everyone. :)

...of bad conditions. Having only one morning a week to get out with my camera can be very frustrating, especially as I am at the mercy of the weather. Once again this week there was some fantastic conditions though the week while I was at work, then more flat grey skies on my day off. This is the 3rd week in a row now so I am hoping for some better conditions before autumn is over, especially now the colours are really starting to change. This is a crop from a wider pano that I shot at Thirlmere yesterday morning where water levels are still very low.

The gondola is a traditional, flat-bottomed Venetian rowing boat, well suited to the conditions of the Venetian lagoon. The gondola is propelled like punting, except an oar is used instead of a pole. For centuries gondolas were the chief means of transportation and most common watercraft within Venice. In modern times the iconic boats still have a role in public transport in the city, serving as traghetti (ferries) over the Grand Canal. They are also used in special regattas (rowing races) held amongst gondoliers. Their primary role today, however, is to carry tourists on rides at fixed rates.

Conditions were perfect last Friday evening at Our Lady's Island for some sunset photography. The lake was very still with little or no winds and nice high clouds illuminated by the setting sun, it was simply beautiful.

A very Happy New Year to me thanks to mist and calm conditions. Out just before 7am to catch the blue hour in Epping Forest. What a great time to be out.

Winter conditions slowly take hold of the Cariboo Mountains as they remain enshrouded behind a stormy veil over Bowron Lake. In the in 1860’s the first Europeans came to the Cariboo Mountains to find their fortunes, as part of what became known as the first Cariboo Gold Rush. Originally referred to simply as “Bear Lake” it was eventually renamed Bowron Lake after John Bowron, the first Gold Commissioner of the nearby gold mining town Barkerville, who organised numerous exploration parties into the remote mountains to look for gold-bearing ground. Love Life, Love Photography

Making the most of the wonderful conditions yesterday morning it would have been criminal not to get some misty fields and tree shots. There may be more of these over the coming days :)

This one I particularly like due to the singe chimney in the foreground providing its own addition to the mist. Getting the colour balance was hard as the sun had just risen and was casting an orange glow across the land, this combined with the diffusion from the mist gave a prevalent yellow hue when facing in this particular direction. But I'm quite happy that is how I saw it at the time.

As I wait for my return flight home from a rather damp Croatia (I gave yet to start to review the pictures from the trip) I thought I would post another reminder of the cracking snowy conditions we found in the Dolomites.

Extremely interesting lighting conditions for photo shooting, besides around sunset or sunrise hours, can be found at any time of day when clouds leave the skies and decide to pay a visit to earth ...

Landscape conditions like the above seen one can especially be located in Greece during April and May ... A frequent personal update on local weather forecast can pinpoint in advance the possibilities of actually encountering such conditions ...

All you have to do then is plan a day out with your camera ....

On this, my second visit to Trevaylor Woods (Penzance), the light wasn't quite as nice as my first visit - devoid of any mist and more overcast / darker. But... I came away with this (while, crossing my fingers for better, "magical," conditions for future visits).

While wandering the woods I spotted these foreground moss-covered boulders (that looked like "rock trolls" to me!) basking in some diffused light. I then looked for a distant focal point - and used the gnarly tree, which stood out amongst the greenery.

thank you for visiting!

In most conditions this view would probably not be the most exciting out there. Add in some big waves and some nice lighting and it's transformed.

I took this on Ektar 100 on the F5, but felt that, while the colours were fairly flat, the contrast was just right with the direct light.

Un beau souvenir car c'était la première sortie photo de mon petit garçon avec son papa.. et on a eu des belles conditions mais beaucoup de monde ce soir là !

A nice memory because it was the first photo of my little boy with his dad .. and we had beautiful conditions but many people that night!

couple more from thurs ..considering the conditions on the day I'm very pleased with the results .at times I couldn't even see the birds with the naked eye due to shooting directly into the sun

if conditions had lined up right, my house ought to have received a few rays of actual direct sunshine a little after 1pm today — alas, the clouds are not cooperating, but good to know it’s possible again…

Conditions were just about perfect for low-flying photography last week. A break in the weather after a sudden downpour resulted in hilltop cloud & the all important humidity in the air. As a 2-ship of USAF F-15E operating from RAF Lakenheath called into the 'Roundabout', all I had to do was gaze down the valley in anticipation of the signature quarter-mile long wingtip ‘ribbons'.

Golden Gate Bridge from the Marin Headlands - Marin County, California

This morning I had planned on uploading something completely different, but when I saw the foggy conditions over the bay, I decided to head out to the same old spots along the Marin Headlands. As I have said before, I will never get sick of this view. It will never get old to me, and it will never be the same view twice. Sure... Some elements stay the same. The bridge will always be where it is. The places to stand and watch the fog roll in or out will stay the same, but the light, and fog will always change.

This morning the fog was a bit unusual. When I arrived up at the first turnout along the headlands, the fog was flowing east to west just underneath the center section of the bridge. The fog started to surround the north tower, which normally starts to clear as the air warms with the rising sun. Within minutes, the south tower started to become engulfed in the misty haze. The odd thing for me to see was the fog building inside the bay rather than rolling in from the Pacific. I know this has happened before, I have just never seen it in person.

So this is not exactly what I had planned for the day, but its a special view to me, and always will be.

Thanks for the views, comments, nice notes, bad notes, criticism, or whatever else you all can come up with....
