Shale in the Mississippian of Kentucky, USA. (geology hammer for scale)
This is an outcrop of the Maury Shale in Kentucky, a thin, condensed interval that is equivalent in part to the Henley Member of the Borden Formation in Kentucky and southern Ohio. Lithologically, the Maury is a grayish to greenish glauconitic shale with phosphatic nodules.
Condensed intervals are thin to very thin successions of sedimentary rocks representing very slow sedimentation rates. A condensed interval has a complete sedimentary record for its time interval, but is significantly thinner than correlative sections. They often have concentrations of microfossils. Condensed intervals can be associated with unconformities.
Conodont biostratigraphy has shown that the Maury Shale was deposited during the Kinderhookian and the early to middle Osagean.

I cooked Biko today... it was my first time and it really wasnt hard as I thought.
It has been a tradition in our family to eat Biko during the lenten season...
I know its supposed to be a season for fasting but I couldnt help it... our family has been cooking biko and suman every lent season since I was a child. The only difference is that now I am the one who cooked it. Wala kasi mom ko and since Im the eldest, I feel obliged to continue the tradition. But the most satisfying experience of it all is that my children and pamangkins love it... my sister do too. Pasadong pasado hahaha. Maybe I'd do it again... kapag sinipag ulet ;P

The Kerry Foods dairy products site at Limerick was branded for Golden Vale Dairies when I took this photograph in 2009. The site has a long history as textile and flour mills before being bought in 1883 by Thomas Cleeve who established the Condensed Milk Company of Ireland and produced tinned condensed milk and later butter and cheese. There was also production of Cleeves Toffee for many years.

This is an attempt to explain why and how and what makes Cherrapunjee, known locally as Sohra, the one place in the world where the precipitation is the heaviest. As the southern winds pregnant with moisture from its long journey over the Indian Ocean is funneled into the Bay of Bengal, it reaches the blind alley of Meghalaya where there is no place to go but up. As the clouds rise, the drop in temperature causes their moisture to condense and provide a spectacle worth watching. Clouds break as they confront the heights of the Sohra plateau, pouring down in sheets to bring relief to the sweltering plains of Bangladesh but dropping most of the precipitation on Sohra and Mawsynram in its peripheries. The deluge barely visible through the driving rain in the distance is Bangladesh under monsoon flood.
