Originaldurchmesser: anderthalb mal ein 5 Frankenstück. this was one of Steve Jobs first projects the NEXT computer ( rendered in cake) yes, it's a big black cube =)

Well... here's the back of the new laptop that's replacing the new laptop. Apparently the ASUS desktop's processor decided to fail, causing its hard drive to become corrupted.

Luckily, this one's turned out to be a great deal (and it looks great!).

Ubuntu on a new macbook pro? Eugh! Hopefully won't be seeing much of this...

My computer/laptop had to be taken in to be diagnosed and then hopefully repaired. I spent a good deal of time trying to solve the problem myself and learned a lot in the process. I am hoping the hard drive is not wiped out. I am also realizing how I should be better at backing up files and photos. I am going away for the weekend. I hope when I return I will have my computer back.

Hope to be back to posting and commenting more consistently next week!

The computer I use MATLAB to interface, through serial, with the motor controllers.

Current version 2.1

Computer: Intel Pentium D 940 Presler 3.2GHz LGA 775 Dual-Core Processor on a Gigabyte GA-EP45-UD3L motherboard with GeForce GTS250, 8GB OCZ RAM and over 2.5TB storage. OS is 64bit Windows Vista Ultimate with 2 - 22" ACER widescreen monitors (P224W & AL2223W) and Creative Labs 3.1 audio.

Desk: IKEA Expedit bookcase and desk unit ($120) and a IKEA Lack 43-1/4" shelf above ($20). Lighting is 6 Hampton Bay 3-Light LED task and accent lights (~$46/3pk). Monitor shelf was custom built using a single piece of 1x12" pine and a simple pine fj shoe molding for decoration then painted white to match.

Other: Television is a 50" Samsung DLP with Onkoyo 7.1 surround sound, xbox 360 and Nintendo Wii. (Television and receiver are also acting as a 3rd monitor and second sound system for the computer.) Television stand is a Lack TV Unit from IKEA on bed risers to increase storage area underneath.

This is where I spend a lot of time viewing and processing stuff, using a Comcast router to access the Internet in my apartment. Elsewhere in the complex, Barkley's "Resident" or "Guest" WiFi is available for use by my iPad Mini and iPod Touch.

The round mirror toward the right in the image is for monitoring CNN, MSNBC and other channels for recent news shown on the TV behind me .... while I'm on the computer.

On top is the keyboard and in that black box is all the cables and Mighty Mouse

The LCD removed, the iMac's internals exposed.

The average was about 2-3mph less than what was displayed on the Garmin 705 - I tended to believe the 705 more for two reasons: 1. It was more and that motivated me 2. My friend can't setup his bike computer to save his life!

Marcel's old computer from the house had some problems, so Phyllis brought it to the flat and I installed Ubuntu Linux on it. I'm uploading this photo from it.

Yeah...I'm sure I'll eventually clean my desk a bit. Also, the computer is apparently costing me $320/month in electricity bills.

I have four of them :) In the picture you can see my 12'' laptop and the 17'' TFT screen used by the rest three PCs. They all run Linux.
