This is the first vector drawing I have done. I used Adobe Illustrator CS5. It was an assignment for COMP125 at Waikato uni.
We had to make an image using only Illustrator and it had to include a dragon and a human.

This was done while beta testing 3D Professional's "Tracer Module". It was state-of-the-art back then (1990) and had a lot of the high-end render features now commonly used in most 3D packages today .
This image tested the software's bump-mapping, soft-reflections, and depth-of-field features. It took an entire week to render this one frame on an Amiga 2000 with PPI's 68040 processor card.

Made with OpenGL on linux. The image used for the environment map (the Cauldron of Creation) has been made by Sébastien Perez-Duarte, to whom I want to give congratulations for his wonderfull work.
The mapping algorithm has an error I discovered after posting the image here, thus I have posted a new corrected version

An Image Map Shader masks the large scale Power Fractal terrain to carve out the pass. A couple of Redirect Shaders (both on X and Z) at different feature scales give the cliffs bulge and bump. I utilised the Soft Shadows option to soften the shadow edges of the right-side cliffs falling on the left-side cliffs. It added 40% to the render time, but was worth it.
ps. I don't know if there is a pass at Arabah, which is near Petra, but why not.
