Prior to 1976, Atari produced arcade games and home Pong games. To raise capital for the production of a new cartridge gaming system, Bushnell sold Atari to Warner Communications. He was named Chairman of the Board. After disagreements over the direction the company should take, Bushnell left Atari in 1978. There followed numerous re-structures, name changes and buy-outs, and Atari is now a subsidiary of the French holding company Atari SA, formerly known as Infogrames Entertainment. In 2010, it was announced that Bushnell would join the company's Board of Directors.

Not much to look at - but this was the very first computer game that had me pulling an all night gaming session!
I thought my poor old ZX Spectrum was going to burst into flames.
Desert Rats was a turn based war game in what I suppose you would call the board game tradition. The 'tiles' are army units which you must move about one square at a time.
This screen shot show a particularly exciting moment (LMAO) where the German mobile infantry regiment is being engaged by British anti-tank guns!
Looking back on it now I can hardly believe that this minimalist game consumed so much of my time...
Incidentally, I discovered an amazing online ZX Spectrum emulator on which you can actually play these old Spectrum games, go to: www.zxspectrum.net/

Cooper, 3years and 4 months, totally engrossed in doing "Wiggles" puzzles and activities on our computer.
I'm playing a game "Bricks n Balls" on my iPad. Sadly it's getting a bit old & tired and sometimes freezes. Here, the stream of balls has just knocked out one of the bricks which has disintegrated. Usually one cannot see this as it happens so fast and the brick just disappears.
Why is a sensible sort of chap like me playing games on his iPad? You may well ask 😳
