After a creative pause due to some job assigments abroad, I restarted today with my art activities. In this picture, I combined a model railroad scene in TT scale (1:120) with a virtual environment made from a screenshot of the computer game 'Homefront: The Revolution'. The original screenshot was provided by in-game photographer Xanvast (www.flickr.com/photos/xanvast/).
Last year I made a big piece for the great indie game festival "Free to Play" ( now called SCREENSHAKE ) at the designcenter in Antwerp. I was part of the group exhibition, but next to that loads of games to play on homemade arcades and other machines, a pixel wall, game-related fashion, loads of talks, game workshops and chiptune deejays.
Had loads of fun making this. Haven't done that much shading in a long time. Ink + watercolours. 50x70cm.
Couldn't resist this blue at the fair in Tilburg :-)
Based on the classic computergame: Tetris.

Oooh was this fun!!! A lot of the basic frameworks you guys have seen me using should hopefully all work great! It's amazing how much this project is actually starting to feel like "Evil Genius!"
Oh and I'm definitely going to need to be painting some pieces if I want a deep desert-night sky colored floor like they have in the game.
Those "doorways" or beams which cross the entry foyer were really just slapped together, and will eventually get some more attention.
More to the Inner Sanctum coming next week: this time, furniture!

It's me!!! I've been promoted! Apparently, they trust me enough to work in the control room. Oh, and these headphones are *imperative* for storing data into the memory bank, which is *very* important for mission success: they are absolutely *not* for listening to music. Definitely not. [continues whistling to (not?) music]
Video originally directed by Michel Gondry. (The texture for the cliff top is altered but originally from: joewilliamss.blogspot.com - everything else is my creation.)
