My first picture with my "new" 2nd hand Sony A200. You see Menno in his special game-hollow I built for him in the attic. On fixed times he can make use of it. Janine had this splendid idea, which prevents the mix-up of gaming with homework (if the gaming would take place on the same place as he does his homework).
The only thing I did with the picture is softening the contrasts a bit, the rest is straight from the camera, which was set on automatic. The flash adjusts itself to the quantity of light needed. A splendid achievement if you realise that the walls are white.
Our son seems to be spoiled and featherbedded, but this is only appearance :).
Now I had never heard of this tank before I played this game, and to me it looks just like an early T34. Well, that's perhaps not surprising because this prototype was a competitor to the T30 in Soviet army trials. In the end the T30 was accepted and became the T34 and the rest is history, as they say!
However, this is a smashing little scout, it's phenomenally fast and can mount a handy little automatic cannon. Sure you can' do loads of damage and you are bate for the big boys, but scouting is really fun and you can (if lucky) run rings round those lumbering giants, all the while spotting them for the rest of your team - much to their annoyance!
I have found that I can actually pick up a decent enough score in this scout, even it I just occasionally dink the enemy - but most of the time its all about dashing about from cover to cover exposing the enemy positions.
What I have started doing is to explore the different tank classes to see what they can do and at the same time build up a small range of types in my garage. In this way I can tailor my game to whomever I am playing with - as well as get a bit of welcome variety into the game. What my friends and I are trying to do is play together with roughly the same class or level of tank so that we aren't so outclassed due to the games sometimes wacky balancing - there isn't much fun in being a level III scout up against a horde of level VIII titans!

Think I prefer this version.
Do you think it needs the other, blue, Portal? With a Lemming or 2 wandering out?

This is my Christmas gift to my brother, he'll love it. We've both played earlier versions of Red Alert, as well as others in the Command & Conquer series. That's Natasha, a Soviet commado, on the cover.
Updated 12/25: We've installed it on his computer, and are playing it. George Takei and Tim Curry are the Japanese Emperor and Soviet Premier in the game.

There are several seaplanes available to you in Heroes of the Pacific - from the graceful American Catalina to the nimble Japanese Nakajima A6M2-N 'Rufe', but none are more impressive than the huge Japanese Kawanishi H8K 'Emily'!
To me this monster reminds me of the British Sunderland sea plane and was designed for long range maritime patrols.
Like the other bombers in HotP you cannot take over the turret gun positions, which is a big shame.

Screenshots of Krazy Ape on the Oric Atmos microcomputer. Written by G. Bailey, this program appeared in the March 1984 issue of Your Computer magazine. Written in BASIC, with some machine code, you had to type it in line by line from the magazine and then debug it to remove your typing errors. It would take hours! Fortunately, you could save it to tape or disc once you had finished. For a program you had to type in yourself, this one was much better than average, in fact most of the programs that appeared in Your Computer were of a very high quality.
(excuse me while i'm nerdy for a while)
me (on the right) as adult Link from the Nintendo 64 game Zenda The Ocarina of Time, and Delia (on the left) as Young Link from the same game. we didn't know eachother until this photo.
Taken at the anual Brisbane comic-book (and similar) festival called Supanova. we were the only Links at the whole thing :)
Costume actually made for my 19th birthday party (was dress-up, the theme being heroes and villians).

Back in the 1980s I cut my computing teeth on the BBC Microcomputer for both work and play.
Despite the limitations of its graphics it was exciting to pilot the Spitfire for landings and take-off, fly under the bridge and through the high-rise buildings of Acornsville.
Initially the game had to be loaded via a Compact Cassette and flying with the keyboard buttons was very difficult.
The Voltmace joystick made flying very much easier.
Over the next 40 years I mastered Photoshop, Video editing and 3D computer imaging. Graphic quality and rendering speeds improved exponentially. Recently I was blown away by the capability of games on the Xbox Series X.
I fulfilled my ambition to set foot on all seven continents many years ago. Now that my wings have been clipped by age and health insurance issues I can at least fly my own planes on virtual visits.
Whilst the nearest that I have gone into space was watching a Space Shuttle take off from Cape Canaveral my journeys are now limitless.

Heroes of the Pacific: Strangely the first version of the Tempest you get to fly has this rather interesting custom paint job - usually in the game it is the final unlock that get's the snazzy lick of paint!
