a first attempt at this type of photo edit , courtesy of a free trial of a photo editing suite...realised that you need a touchscreen computer and a stylus to do this type of edit justice....still good practise.

Laurel using her new KidzMouse at my computer (it's since gone to being used almost exclusively on Robert's computer so I can use my computer while she's playing games). It's greatly reduced her frustration when playing a variety of age-appropriate games; her favorites are I Spy Junior and Disney preschool titles.

My computer desk as seen on 02/05/2007. Not usually this clean. ;)

Just a dramatic picture of an otherwise ordinary black keyboard.

Like the hood of a car, my beast is open until the parts come in.

Yesterday I clicked on an Apple upgrade* on my computer which changed iPhoto to Photos. It took nearly three hours to load and the photos on my computer have been rearranged, I can't load new ones to the iMac and I can't amalgamate or remove folders. Perhaps I will be able to do it eventually.

I took this photo with my Ricoh camera, loaded the picture to my external hard drive and uploaded it to Flickr from there :(

* Upgrade ! More like a downgrade !

Part two of the November Photography Challenge- 3 things that weren't around for your parents that you're thankful for.

The internet in general is something I love- Sure, it can be nasty at times, but there's such an amazing connection made through posts, jokes and stories on here, and I think that one of the better examples of this is YouTube. I've discovered hundreds of funny and talented people as well as new hobbies through this site, as well as just having a laugh at silly cat videos- a classic way of cheering up on any bad day :)

There's always more to a desk than the computer that's sitting on it. (Contains many notes; for those of you seeing this image via solecist.net, you'll need to visit the original on flickr to see the notes.)

In 1969, Honeywell released the Kitchen Computer. It was designed for housewives to be able to store and retrieve recipes. Unfortunately, it had a terrible, unusable interface, and its price tag was a whopping $10,600 (in 1969 money!)

It appears that none of these were ever sold.

This computer of mine, also very hard working. Was out of inspiration that day.

Office machines on display.

Free 486 base unit for anyone who can collect from London SE13, UK.

50 throbbing megahertz of raw computing power can be yours.

Generic 486 PC base unit, needs new 3.6v CMOS battery. Stuck a tiny 100MB hard drive in it just to prove it starts up. Has keyboard, mouse, floppy drive, Soundblaster soundcard, 3com ethernet card, CD-ROM drive (will not boot from CD ROM though).

Seems to work but no proper OS installed, and without that CMOS battery you'll be typing numbers into the CMOS each time to get it to see the hard drive.

Sorry, monitor not included!

Would suit mad masochist trying to get some obscure Linux distro running on the lowest spec machine in the universe.

Or students will be prompted to work on computer software programs focused on enhancing reading fluency, vocabulary and comprehension. We primarily use the Read 180 software. However, other programs like Study Island and my own web based projects are available for students to work on.

This is my office space at the newspaper where all the magic happens with the computer. Actually it is more likely where the computer likes to crash but ...anyhow it is home to me.

This chap lives under the computer, he has a nice soft tummy to polish the screen.
