This image was taken by comparing each pixel's color with that of its left neighbor. The difference was compared to a threshold value, and the threshold was used to determine if each pixel was colored black or white.

This image was created by taking the brightness of each pixel in the original image, comparing it to a threshold value, and then making each pixel black or white depending on whether the brightness was greater than or less than the threshold value.
