It feels like forever since I've been on Flickr and have missed all of you. I feel like I am finally on the road to recovery. It will take some time for me to get back to commenting on everyone's images - so you may just get faves for a bit. So happy to be back!
It is the glow of a glow worm in the night.
It is the breath of a buffalo in winter.
It is the small shadow that scurries across the grass
and gets lost in the sunset.
last words from Crowfoot, chief of the Blackfoot Indians
On the way at my virtual favourite lake...
Was ist Leben?

National park of KRKA in Dalmatia
The park consists of waterfalls which built up themselves on the river Krka thanks to the formation of travertine.
It possesses a fauna and a rich and varied flora.
By crossing the park, browsed by small brooks and small waterfalls pouring in an immense lake, we believe to have found the Heaven on Earth...

The rock is composed of a mineral called Arkose. Granite like with Feldspar. The iron in Feldspar reacts with oxygen in the air to give us the orange-red colour. Newly broken bits will be grey to white in colour.

Transcript – “I AM ME” Official Music Video – Fearless Soul
I AM ME.
I’ll never pretend to be another.
I will never want to BE another.
I will not change who I am just to fit in.
I AM ME.
I am not perfect… but I’m working on myself… working to become the best version of myself.
I’m not putting on a mask no more
The true me can’t stay hidden
I’m not putting on a show no more
I’m not gonna act to fit in
Yeah I might not be perfect
but I’m working on my best version
I’m on my way
Yes I’m on my way
If I have to I’ll walk alone
Being myself is all that I know
Want me to change to fit in?
I won’t.
I am me.
I can’t pretend to be what I’m not
In my own way I know I am strong
I am free to do what I want
I am me.
If I have to I’ll walk alone
Being myself is all that I know
Want me to change to fit in?
I won’t.
I am me.
I can’t pretend to be what I’m not
In my own way I know I am strong
I am free to do what I want
I am me.
Yes I am
I am me
I’m not putting on a mask no more
I’ve got my own life to live
There’s so much more I can give
I walk my own path
I won’t pretend to be another
Never want to be another
Won’t apologize for being me
That’s all I can be.
Yeah I might not be perfect
But I’m working on my best version
I’m on my way
Yeah I’m on my way
If I have to I’ll walk alone
Being myself is all that I know
Want me to change to fit in?
I won’t.
I am me.
I can’t pretend to be what I’m not
In my own way I know I am strong
I am free to do what I want
I am me.
Yeah I might not be perfect
But I’m working on my best version!
I’m on my way.
I’m on my way!
If I have to I’ll walk alone
Being myself is all that I know
Want me to change to fit in? I won’t.
I am me
I can’t pretend to be what I’m not
in my own way I know I am strong
I am free to do what I want
I am me
Yes I am

Happy New Year to all my flickr friends - and may your dreams come true...
Moonrise over the Niesen with the last sunrays touching the peaks of the Bernese Alps - when I saw this beautiful nature, I dreamed of flying in a balloon over these snowy peaks….
Thank you all so much for your inspiration, for your loyal support and for your lovely comments, which always make me very happy.
Even though I don't always get to respond to all your faves and comments for time reasons, I thank you now from the bottom of my heart.

June Light
Richard Wilbur - 1921-2017
Your voice, with clear location of June days,
Called me outside the window. You were there,
Light yet composed, as in the just soft stare
Of uncontested summer all things raise
Plainly their seeming into seamless air.
Then your love looked as simple and entire
As that picked pear you tossed me, and your face
As legible as pearskin's fleck and trace,
Which promise always wine, by mottled fire
More fatal fleshed than ever human grace.
And your gay gift—Oh when I saw it fall
Into my hands, through all that naïve light,
It seemed as blessed with truth and new delight
As must have been the first great gift of all.

The San Francisco Bay Bridge is not as famous as the Golden Gate Bridge, nevertheless it is a very pretty structure.
Today I gave a "composition in the field" class to students of the Digital Photo Academy. We learned about ND (neutral density) filters in broad daylight. For this photo I stacked two ND8 filters, set the ISO to 100 and aperture to f22 to get an exposure time of 4 seconds. This smoothes out the waves nicely. The ND filters also change the colors a bit, e.g. they are not totally neutral. We get these beautiful turquoise tones because of it.
I processed a balanced HDR photo from a long exposure RAW image.

This exposure is one I composed and edited last year, however I came back to this fall pond side shot with a new understanding of editing. The original shot is a focus stack, this one is not. This photo captured my attention, the tree leading out to the pond, rough, rugged, a bit chaotic in its nature, leading to the reflected side of the pond, orderly subdued. In the original shot it looks like I used a soft grad filter in the scene to expose everything, and now looking back I see this was a drastic mistake. Unfortunately there’s not a lot you can do about using physical filters and the destructive effects they can have on a scene. I cropped the scene lower than usual and tried to put more focus into the rest of the scene.

The Chimborazo seen from the Arenal.
Vía a Riobamba.
Chimborazo is an ice-capped inactive volcano in Ecuador. Chimborazo is a double volcano composed of one volcanic edifice on top of another. Chimborazo shows four summits; Whymper, Veintimilla, Politecnica, and Nicolas Martínez. The Whymper peak is the highest point on the mountain at 6,263 meters. The Veintimilla peak is about 6,230 m (20,440 ft) high. The Politecnica peak is 5,820 m (19,094 ft) high. The last peak, Nicolas Martínez, is 5,570 m (18,274 ft) high and was named after the father of Ecuadorian mountaineering. The volcano is categorized as a stratovolcano. This type of volcano is characterized as having low slopes at the bottom that gradually get steeper the higher up the mountain. Chimborazo has a circumference of 78 miles (126 km) and a diameter of 30 miles (48 km). Chimborazo's upper elevations are covered in glaciers that are decreasing in size due to climate change and falling ash from the nearby volcano, Tungurahua. In addition to the glaciers, the volcano is covered with craters. The volcano is dominantly andesitic to dacitic. This means that the lava is blocky, or flowing down the sides of the volcano, or somewhere in between.
Chimborazo is 73.5 metres higher than the highest mountain in North America. Chimborazo is often associated with the nearby volcano Cotopaxi, although the two volcanoes have completely different structures.
Pedra da Gávea is a monolithic mountain in Tijuca Forest, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. Composed of granite and gneiss, its elevation is 844 metres (2,769 ft), making it one of the highest mountains in the world that ends directly in the ocean. Trails on the mountain were opened up by the local farming population in the early 1800s; today, the site is under the administration of the Tijuca National Park.
The mountain's name translates as Rock of the Topsail, and was given to it during the expedition of Captain Gaspar de Lemos, begun in 1501, and in which the Rio de Janeiro bay (today Guanabara Bay, but after which the city was named) also received its name. The mountain, one of the first in Brazil to be named in Portuguese, was named by the expedition's sailors, who compared its silhouette to that of the shape of a topsail of a carrack upon sighting it on January 1, 1502. That name in turn came to be given to the Gávea area of the city of Rio de Janeiro.
Differential weathering on one side of the rock has created what is described as a stylized human face. Markings on another face of the rock have been described as an inscription. Geologists and scientists are nearly in agreement that the "inscription" is the result of erosion and that the "face" is a product of pareidolia. Furthermore, the consensus of archaeologists and scholars in Brazil is that the mountain should not be viewed as an archaeological site.
This is to the Brexiteers and to the "Wallbuilders"in the USA,because its the same Spirit.

Although this Vertorama was composed exactly the same as this one which I posted a couple of days ago... it's different enough to make me want to process and post it as well.
Besides... I actually prefer this one. The light might have been better in the other one... but the streaky clouds in this one are way cool... and the beautiful woman just adds the finishing touch. :)

The River Conwy Welsh: Afon Conwy) is a river in north Wales. From its source to its discharge in Conwy Bay it is a little over 27 miles (43 km) long. "Conwy" was formerly Anglicised as "Conway."
It rises on the Migneint moor where a number of small streams flow into Llyn Conwy, then flows in a generally northern direction, being joined by the tributaries of the rivers Machno and Lledr before reaching Betws-y-Coed, where it is also joined by the River Llugwy. From Betws-y-coed the river continues to flow north through Llanrwst, Trefriw (where it is joined by the Afon Crafnant) and Dolgarrog (where it is joined by Afon Porth-llwyd and Afon Ddu) before reaching Conwy Bay at Conwy. During spring tides the river is tidal as far as Tan-lan, near Llanrwst.
