While walking in the Holme Valley I encountered the last resting place of William John Owen Rowbotham, aka Bill Owen, aka Compo. It is in the peaceful chuchyard at Upperthong above Holmfirth, the town used as location for the long-running TV series “Last of the Summer Wine.”
In my day in the army, ten man and 24 Hour ration packs contained tinned food, necessitating a tin opener. This is an unused "Morfed" compo tin opener, made in Caerphilly. I imagine the MOD move to "boil in the bag" hit them hard.
Yes, I did attend a doll show last October. It wasn't much of a risk, considering there were fewer people there than at the grocery store, everyone was wearing a mask, and it was very possible to maintain 6 feet distance from most people. I thought I'd share some pictures for those whose doll shows have been cancelled. My favourites in this group are the kid in blue, and the wonderfully double chinned girl next to her.
