A very compliant Robin, never moved as I moaned and groaned trying to get low enough to take it's best side.

This photo was taken from a vehicle on the way to Mũi Cà Mau or Cape Ca Mau. The water body in the photo is for the aquaculture of shrimps/prawns. It is surrounded by mangrove forests.

Cape Ca Mau is located 110 km southwest of Ca Mau city.

It used to be a stronghold of Viet Minh guerrillas during the American (Vietnam) War. Consequently, the area was chosen for the aerial herbicide spray missions, which severely damaged the mangrove forests.

After the Unification in 1975, the government in Hanoi ordered to convert the damaged mangrove forests to farmlands, which was not successful due to unfavourable soil conditions.

In the 1980s, shrimp farming was introduced, which accelerated the cutting of mangroves.

Introduction of an integrated aquaculture - agroforestry programme in the 1990s, which stipulated shrimp ponds owners to allocate a certain percentage of their land for regenerating mangrove forests, stopped the negative trends finally. Liberalisation of land transactions for those who are compliant with the above-mentioned landuse regulation also contributed to the conservation of mangroves.

The national park is also a Ramsar Site.

Doesn't "she" look regal in her very own tiny, cosy, safe and totally social distancing compliant fence realm? It's "she" because in German "Blume" (flower) is female. I took this on my very first "Corona walk" back in March when it was still unclear if we were allowed to go for walks at all. Until then I had only ever left the house for necessary errands (it's not that much different now), but the authorities had not only reassured us that it's OK to go for walks, but had actually encouraged us to do so as long as we kept a safe distance to everyone and also didn't meet or go out with anyone else but members of the same household. Much has changed since then. Most people in my city don't care about the virus any more, and, as a result, the numbers of infections are rising again. I think the current situation is like a walk on a tightrope. It might go well, it might not...

This late March walk was just one around the corner, and this Queen of Weeds' realm lies right across the house I live in, on the other side of my street. My neighbourhood isn't spectacular in any way, but there are many nice old (from around 1900) apartment houses with just as nice old fences protecting their front gardens, and it was great fun and felt like real freedom to just walk around there and look for the little beauties along the wayside.

HFF, Everyone, and stay safe and healthy!

Although it may sound like a joke, Tokyo abounds in nature. Surprisingly, 36% of its territory is protected as national parks. This percentage is the second highest among the 47 Japanese prefectures.

This is the first photo of the last section of the serial uploads under the theme "Nature in Tokyo," which started with Izu islands in last August, then moved to the Tama area including Okutama (upper Tama) in the mountainous western part in October, and focused on the manmade nature of Japanese gardens in downtown Tokyo from December.

Ogasawara islands (小笠原諸島) are located 1,000 km south of downtown Tokyo. It is also known as Bonin Islands. Ship is the only transportation available, and it takes 24 hours from the Takeshiba Pier (竹芝埠頭) in the neighbourhood of Shiba-rikyuu. It takes more time than going to Sao Paulo on the opposite side of the globe.

Still, it is in Tokyo prefecture and I was fully compliant to the government request not to travel beyond the prefecture border to curb the spread of Corona virus.

When I took Ogasawara-maru (小笠原丸) ship, the sea was rough all the way down to Chichijima (父島) island due to strong northwestern monsoon winds. The ship delayed by one hour, which was rare according to a villager. This photo was taken when the ship was approaching the Futami Bay (二見湾) of Chichijima.

Islands in the photo are Otoutojima, Anijima and Nishijima from left to right.

Ogasawara islands were registered on the list of World Natural Heritage in 2011. It is known by some as "Galapagos in the east" due to the abundance in endemic species.

Reposting an older shot because I didn't like how I originally edited it.

The only two Ohio Central "Super 7" units to receive the maroon and yellow scheme, OHCR 4092 and 4093, bracketing four sand hoppers head west under Route 151 between Jewett and Scio, Ohio, on Oct. 7, 2016. Unfortunately, the 4092 suffered a catastrophic engine failure a couple weeks ago (around Christmas 2022) and is likely OOS for good. Pairing that with the news from yesterday about the EPA and G&W agreeing to destroy 88 non-emission-compliant locomotives over the next three years, including almost every Super 7, the future looks very bleak for the B23-7S class.

Two blended shots of a juvenile Black-faced Cuckoo Shrike come to cadge food from a compliant human. This is one of two chicks, each with very different personalities. They both come looking for food, but this is the more assertive of the two. It has learned that I will throw food onto the roof for it, as I do for its parents. Last week it waited on the roof for the food, this week it hovers above the roof and dives to pick up the food. This is their natural behaviour and it's wonderful to see this little bird grow and learn so fast.

In small groups, the shore area and the Rhine meadows were cleared of rubbish and litter. Unfortunately, the meal and refreshments for the participants had to be cancelled after the successful work because of Corona.

The Tien Shan mountains in eastern Kyrgyzstan bordering to China are in a very remote and difficult to reach area of the country. The area can be reached on foot or by an old Soviet era helicopter. As the mountains reach up to 7000m, the helicopter flies through rather than over the mountains. A fantastic flight, although likely not compliant with most safety standards. The peaks in the background belong to the Khan Tengri.

There is a rule on the bayou well known to every member of the heron family within a month after fledging, which is: a bird approaching a perch has right-of-way over any bird that might already be established there. Dominant bird, male, female, or relative size makes no difference. In this instance, a Snowy Egret is claiming the prime fishing platform from a chagrined but compliant Tricolored Heron on Armand Bayou.

Happy Truck Thursday!

not forsa compliant and also not a personal forecast for the coming sunday! :-)

Union Pacific C40-8 9299 was wheezing along through the Iowa countryside on the Clinton Subdivision in April of 1997.

Something tells me there may have been some sort of issue with this locomotive.

For Smile on Saturday theme 'I Love to...'

Snails are fascinating, entertaining, comical...and beautiful creatures. I find them much more engaging than the more popular birds and butterflies, with the added advantage that they don't move very fast! Photographing snails is always a challenge, requiring a great deal of patience and a compliant subject willing to perform for the camera.

No snails were harmed in the making of this photograph.

Olive posing on the patio, cute and funny lol. I took some photos for another group with the theme 'Bow' and after finding this huge bow I couldn't resist :)

She sat so well, even head tilting when I was speaking to her. Several months ago I'd never have thought my whirling crazy puppy could be so compliant, she's growing up! The colourful pots & flowers made a good backdrop too.

The clouds were crazy over the weekend at the National Monument in Edinburgh. I went to snap a candid shot of my two older children looking out over Edinburgh from the foot of the monument but knew I didn't have long before they spotted me and protested. Why can't I have compliant children who like to pose for pictures?! Anyway. I was in a hurry and so flipped to auto mode and set the focus on the clouds, which had the effect of silhouetting everything in the foreground. I liked it, snapped it, turned around and hoofed it before they saw me. Whew!

Those descended from Fierna are blessed with strong personalities and find that other’s wills are bendable and compliant when needed. They may indulge in the more physical and carnal pleasures of mortal existence or use their natural charm to secure themselves a luxurious lifestyle.

EEP! WL: Anan Adored Light Explosion II

While the BC Rail heritage unit is no doubt awesome, and possibly the best one CN put out for the 25th anniversary of the IPO, zebras hold a special place with me. Doomed to trail only in the US in PTC territory, the barns are sorely missed as leaders, and would have looked fantastic on the point. Either way, the stellar pair get going out of Flint South Yard on L501 after they unfortunately had to spin their power to be PTC compliant.

A 79-car Union Pacific MRONY freight fills Big 10 Curve nicely approaching Rocky, Colorado, on Valentine’s Day 2015 afternoon. Seven locomotives are up front, beginning with EMD SD70ACe No. 8559, followed by a pair of GE AC4400CWs—Canadian Pacific No. 9576 and UP 7036. Next up are two General Electric “Tier 4 compliant” ES44ACs—GECX Nos. 2024 and 2023 in vibrant solid blue. Rounding out the consist are a pair of EMD SD70ACes—UP Nos. 8668 and 8362. Seventy-nine cars later and on the upper part of the curve is lone DPU GE ES44AC No. 5309 on the rear.

Entrance only

Exit here

I read that several times in small shops until mid-December.

I've never seen a bird box like this before. Can someone tell me why there are 2 holes? I know that the common redstart prefers an oval hole.

This bird is unique to the very south of Texas into the Rio Grande Valley. In my experience, Thrashers are hard to encounter let alone photograph well, so I didn't have high hopes of getting this bird. However, midway through my journey through Texas, I came across one, and then another, and then yet another. They were hard to shoot, but eventually I came across a compliant bird.

A bit tatty, but very compliant!

Having come into Flint earlier in the morning, Z388 ducks under the signals at North Kearsely. Coming into Flint, the power was each end of the train with the BNSF 8949 being on the north end. With the trail engine already being a north facing engine, the 8949 was axed off the north end of the train and was promptly wyed to lead the empties south and onto the interchange at Wixom. With a multitude of SD70MACs either stored or not compliant with PTC regulations, seeing this one lead was an exceptionally nice treat to see in 2021.

Green with envy.

In July 2020 the east coast on NSW was pounded by heavy sea's and North Haven was no exception.

Forcing the closure of beaches the heavy sea's did provide some spectacular scenery as the ocean displayed its turbulence.

For this rolling wave it seemed that there was one none compliant section of the wave that was green with envy and showed its disapproval.

North Haven, New South Wales, Australia.

Nine years after the FRA-mandated deadline for cars built before 1966 to have their roofwalks removed, there were still non-compliant cars in service. Here a Chesapeake & Ohio 40-foot boxcar, still equipped with roofwalk, full-height ladders, and full-height brake wheel rills through Lynchburg, Virginia.

Because the birds don’t always avail themselves to my lens I get bored and start photographing more compliant subjects 😂

Fujimi (富士見) is the easternmost Suwa municipality in Nagano prefecture (長野県) bordering on Yamanashi prefecture (山梨県). Woods behind the farmland is the border.

The small pickup truck is compliant with the "K (軽 light weight)" category specification of vehicles, namely, less than 2m in height, 3.4m in length, and 1.48m in width. By satisfying the above, car tax is significantly reduced in Japan. I don't know if the rule is applicable to the excavator, but the one in the photo looks like a good comrade of the small pickup.

Not sure if this is ISO compliant.

In the background, the Sacred Heart Cathedral can be seen. Until the independence of Morocco in 1956, it was a catholic church. Nowadays, it is used as a cultural center.

Another compliant specimen soaking the early morning light.

The M338 manifest train Eastbound out of Waterloo in high sun West of Jesup, Iowa It is led by one of the new EPA Tier 4 compliant General Electric GEVO locomotives. I had much better closeup shots lined up. Unfortunately I forgot to clear the memory card off, and could just view the scene while the camera button failed to click off photos due to a full 32gb card DOHHH!!

This 77-year-old art deco building that used to serve as the Wichita Municipal Airport does not have heating or air conditioning. The three-story building is not compliant with the Americans with Disabilities Act. There is no working elevator. And it’s hard to find, tucked away in the shadows of McConnell Air Force Base. And yet, the museum documents and touts Wichita as the Air Capital of the World. It draws more than 20,000 visitors a year, mostly aviation buffs from around the world.

I found this beautiful specimen as I was raking the yard this past spring. I immediately stopped raking, fetched my camera, dropped down onto my stomach and fired off some shots. Here's one of them :)

It was very compliant with my photoshoot, but soon jumped away and into the woodland nearby.

I'm fascinated with frogs and toads, so I was one happy photographer...

A southbound Union Pacific coal load crosses over Wyoming’s Logan Hill with trailing DPU unit KLWX No. 9530 bringing up the tail on June 28, 2024. This basic black 4,400 hp Knoxville Locomotive Works product is apparently testing on UP coal trains in Powder River Basin to see if a Tier 4-compliant remanufactured locomotive is possible equipped with a Cummins prime mover. The unit started out life as Burlington Northern EMD SD70MAC No. 9530.

Another look at the eclectic mix of EMDs hanging out at the Transportation Technology Center near Pueblo, CO.

A quick rundown of what's in this shot. First off, there's EMD 9500, 9502, and 9503, the three remaining SD60MACs. Probably won't see a lot of photos of these in 2020. Also, there's EMD 1207 and 4223, SD70ACes in a pretty cool scheme. Lastly, and most unfortunately positioned, Metrolink 923, an EMD F125, a Tier 4-compliant passenger locomotive.

A pair of sharp looking Union Pacifc SD59MXs have arrived down from Fresno with an unidentified lcoal and are working the little yard where they interchange with the San Joaquin Valley Railroad. This is just north of CP SP240 'South Goshen' on Union Pacific's Fresno Subdivision (ex Southern Pacific valley main) beneath the Betty Drive overpass.

UP 9921 and 9923 were rebuilt by EMD in 2012 from SD60Ms 2503 and 2506 originally blt. in Oct. 1992. The original 16 cylinder prime mover was replaced with a new V12-710G3C-T2ECO with electronic fuel injectors and all new microprocessor control systems making them Tier 2 compliant.

Joey is the farm owner's dog, and a very compliant model. I had him sit with his back to the sun, then lit up his front with my flash. I gave him a treat afterward, of course.

Luci is not always compliant when I need a subject, but there's always one photo on the roll that works.

Tri-X developed in H76 (a version of D-76 that omits the Hydroquinone) diluted 1:1 for 11 minutes, rating the Tri-X at 200 ASA. Rolleiflex 2.8E Planar used (f11 or thereabouts)

July 20th, my family and I watched NEOWISE set into the San Francisco Peaks from Marshall Lake. This thing was such a beautiful sight visually and photographically — and held its own as it settled between the west and east Flagstaff light domes. There was a pretty cool effect as the coma finally dipped behind the mountain and the dust tail looked like a fountain of steam cresting out of that old, blasted out stratovolcano. Kind of interesting that east Flag lighting appears a bit more dark sky spectrum compliant than the west side — but could be some other effect causing that difference.

One of the first to be released to traffic of what will eventually be sixteen members of GBRf's class 69 conversions, unit 69002 'Bob Tiller CM&EE'; stands at Tonbridge West Yard awaiting its next turn of duty.

Converted by Progress Rail at their Longport facility in Staffordshire, each locomotive is a substantial rebuild from a class 56 unit (aka 'Grid') released to traffic in the period 1976-1984.

The story behind the conversions is that GBRf, the owners, were looking for more locomotives offering similar performance to the class 66s which, since 2010, could no longer be purchased as they were deemed non-compliant with National Technical Specification Notices. As a consequence it was determined that converting an existing locomotive would prove to be more cost effective than designing and buying something completely new. The 69s include many similar control systems, as well as the same power plant, as that used in the class 66s.

In the case of 69002, the rebuild was from 'Grid' 56311 which was released to traffic in 1979 as unit 56057 fresh out of Doncaster Works.

Rather than take this shot over the footbridge rail, I opted to take it through the grid mesh as a spin on the narrative. It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but........

2F30 Paignton to Exmouth. Class 150 Sprinter in GWR green livery seen here on the sea wall at Dawlish. Class 150 "Sprinter" is a diesel multiple unit (DMU) primarily used for regional and branch line services in the West of England. Built between 1984 and 1987 by BREL York, these trains were designed as a second-generation replacement for older "heritage" units. As of 2026, the Class 150 remains a core part of the GWR fleet, despite its age of over 40 years. They are frequently deployed on the Cornish Branch Lines: including the St Ives, Looe Valley, and Atlantic Coast lines.

Regional Routes: Services such as the Riviera Line (Exeter to Paignton) and routes around Bristol and Cardiff.

While they are ageing, they remain compliant with modern regulations, though GWR has begun focusing on newer regional fleet options like Class 175 to provide better resilience.
