Can't complain about the view, but here the temperature was 17 degrees below zero and windy. So you need proper winter clothing and no bare skin if you wanna go outside. But then again you can have some great moments, like this...

Before everyone laments and complains that this image resembles another one of a very talented artist here...YES this picture is inspired by a fantastic shot of Lulu Jameson . An artist that I look up to and who amaze me for such a long time. He showed us a picture by the campfire some time ago and I was like...hey it´s like sitting right next to you.
Yesterday some friends and I hang out together and I saw that something is going one between them....I had registered how he looked only to her so there was my sneaky shot. And while I looked at their faces I thought about what could have been on the other side of the campfire. It would be the perfect place, the perfect moment for a starting romance like this one..

You haven't heard me complain about the weather much lately. It is because I left the land of predictably unpredictable weather and went south. I'm not a lover of heat but there is something nice about waking everyday and not having to check the forecast before picking the appropriate dress for the weather.
It has been a couple of weeks and we are all now a little sunkissed, vitamin D infused, and ready to return home. I've got my warm weather fix for this summer. Bring on the coolness of fall and I'll admit, I'm almost ready to get excited about snow! :-)

The Waterfall of the Gods, Viking cruise excursion, Northern Iceland's Natural Treasures
Goðafoss translates from modern Icelandic as "the waterfall of the gods", a nickname said to come from a myth from Iceland's history. According to legend, after converting the country to Christianity, Þorgeir Ljósvetningagoði (one of the main rulers of the island at that time) threw all his pagan idols into the waterfall, thus changing the Viking gods for the Christian god.
They compliment its weather. They complain of the earlier months as cold, and so spend them in the city; and they complain of the later months as hot, and so refrigerate themselves on some barren sea-coast. Mother Nature offers us yearly a necklace of twelve pearls; most men choose the fairest, label it June, and cast the rest away :-)

There is a long way to get to the Uttakleiv beach. But once arrived, it's worth when you admire the mountains on one side and the beautiful white sand beach with sea and its rollers on the other. And well, there are some rocks too. One last thing, weather isn’t nice all the time either, but who would complain?
Fynn has to stay indoors today because the weather is rather horrible, windy and very wet. If he could he would go out anyway, rain and wind don't stop him, but I locked the catflap. I want him to stay dry because he has enough health issues already. He complained a lot but finally accepted that I wouldn't give in this time. When I took this photo he sat on a table in my study and watched the rain lashing against the window.
Ok i know i complain about the lazy osprey on my lake and lack of eagle skills in the fishing department and I am acutely aware that my tiny humming bird does not have a fish in its mouth but she made up for it by turning around to give me a prefect lighting shot and looking as cute as she could possibly pose as a thank you for the fresh sugar-ade i made her up today.

Taken at Saltholme RSPB reserve, a lot of people were complaining about them taken out posts that Kingfishers use, apparently they took out 4 posts from in front of one of the hides and replaced it with this one which was far too far away from the hide! One Kingfisher obliged using this post but it is a massive crop, good light helped the image as well as been able to crop in tight with a 50 mp camera, just wish they had put the post a bit closer!

Two days before I took this image, the harbor was full of big chunks of ice floating and packed into the space between the shores. Waves were crashing and the wind was blowing all the ice onto the shore. Then on this day the ice was blown completely out of the harbor and the water was relatively calm. The winds of change can completely create a new mood for the day. Expect the change and then adjust your sails! Have a great weekend.
We often shutter our windows against the grey, complaining of the damp chill and the light it steals. We treat the rain as a thief of our time, yet we forget that a sky of endless sun eventually brings a desert.
To love the flower while loathing the downpour is to demand a miracle without its cost. Without these heavy skies, the fields would turn to dust and the ancient trees would slowly wither into the earth. The rain is not a burden. It is the persistent heartbeat of survival.
When we embrace the storm, we recognize that growth requires nourishment and strength requires adversity. We must welcome the rain to witness the life it brings.

This shot was taken early in the morning from the balcony of the little hotel I was staying in Dulikhel (Nepal). Somewhere, barely visible should be the mighty Himalayas, but Nepal was covered in a thick layer of smog, that already was there when I arrived at the beginning of March, but it got worse in the second part of April.
The result was that much of my travel plans were spoiled because hiking in the hills was hardly pleasant. High temperatures and low visibility meant that I could forget great scenes of glorious mountains.
But I had seen the mountains in the Annapurna region. I have met people that during their holiday in Nepal haven't seen the Himalayas at all.
That said, if you have seen the images of Nepal at the moment with giant floods because of the monsoon, then I should not complain at all. Infrastructure in Nepal is again in many places destroyed, and that means they can start all over in the coming months. An ongoing battle presumably.
Who can complain about spiders, when the do such a good job of getting rid of the real pests.

I complain a lot about not having enough pain medicine, but here's a situation where maybe I had too much because I thought the sign on the right was a dog crossing and the left side was for people. I was so confused that I snapped a photo!-lol

I am always complaining that I never see any lilacs. I just seem to miss them during my travels. Imagine my surprise when I see a lilac bush in full bloom in Alaska! Can you tell I was ecstatic!

I've complained on here before about how 'flighty' crows are, and how difficult it has been for me to capture one in flight. I finally got this one the other day and it is my best one to date. It could be 'better', but for now I'm happy with it - until a better one comes along! ; )
I think I've made my opinion on these SD70M-2s still not receiving paint after over a year of ownership apparent. Despite this, I begrudgingly went west after work this afternoon to get a couple shots of a rare daylight SU-100 coming down Sparta Mountain, one of those shots being passing the old depot at Newfoundland, NJ. Maybe one day they'll get paint.
Remember when everyone complained about how boring the Oakway SD60s were?
I'm such a hypocrite. I complain about how many people they herd through Antelope Canyon...then I go there. I say that there are too many pictures of the place...then I post more. The thing is, I drive right next to the stupid thing whenever I drive up Route 89 towards Utah (which is often) and it's just such an amazing place.

Well as cool as that shot was of them arriving this was the real prize of the evening. As 4014 slowly cut their train in half and backed into the Union Station exhibition tracks this empty KCS coal train wheeled around the curve headed west on KCT Main 2 at about MP 6.8 on the East West Corridor destined toward the Bluff track and on to Murray Yard and back to the coal fields.
It's hard to get more classic of a Kansas City scene than this and hard to to top this warm low evening light, so yes I will readily admit I was foolhardy and wrong not to want to come back for this. Agreed Frank Keller?!

Glasgow is probably the best preserved Victorian city of all. Some Glasgow residents are complaining that for 40 years the home price there has scarcely changed at all, quoting that home price in London in the same period has risen 8X if not 10X. It seems that the residents there have forgotten that the purchasing power of most people -- with the exception of the top 5%-- particularly those from the West has hardly changed at all for the past 40 years, and when the ruling elites insist that their way is the way and the only way, things aren't going to change...
