Hey, user support? This mountain doesn't mount on my netbook.

On Tuesday 06-03-08 I had a magnet implanted in my finger. The magnet was coated in medical grade silicone for bio-compatibility and is small enough that it does not negatively effect electronic devices, credit cards or other objects that may be sensitive to magnets.

I am now able to "feel" magnet fields. When my hand is in close proximity to anything that generates a magnetic field (small motors, electric currents, magnets, etc.) I feel a slight tingle or pressure in my finger. If the magnetic field is oscillating it almost feels like a pulse.

I am also able to pick up small ferrous objects, such as paperclips.

2016 has been the year of “plus”–nearly every mountain bike manufacturer in the world has released a skinny-fat offering in its lineup. And while this new category of 3-inch-wide tires still needs to figure itself out, I can at least feel confident in saying that it’s great for trail hardtails.

Read more at www.bikemag.com/gear/bikes/trail-bikes-gear/jamis-dragons...

The Jamis Dragonslayer is the company’s latest addition to its line of steel hardtails, and it’s built for capability, durability and flexibility. Its 4130 chromoly tubing is triple butted for weight reduction and ride feel, and the frame features sliding dropouts for singlespeed compatibility. Since it is an obvious choice for bikepacking, it’s outfitted with rack mounts and a 3-hole bottle mount, and the traditional double triangle design means it’ll fit a large frame bag.

As for geometry, some of the Dragonslayer’s numbers are right where you’d expect them for a modern trail bike designed around a 120-mil fork, with 68- and 73-degree head and seat angles respectively and 17.2-inch chainstays. But the 19-inch size sports a 16.7-inch reach coupled with stock Ritchey Trail 720-mil bars and 80-mil stem, which could be considered conservative these days. The Dragonslayer might be perfect for riders not interested in running crazy short stems on super long frames, which is the way mountain bike fit is trending.

The 3-inch “plus-size” Vittoria Bomboloni tires mounted on WTB i45 TCS 27.5 rims provide oodles of traction in places where you’d expect none–a huge asset on the marbles-over-hardpack conditions at Bootleg canyon. They also grant an impressive amount of floatation in sand without feeling sluggish like a fatbike. They seemed pretty tough, too. I bottomed the tires hard enough to dent the rim at one point, without flatting or burping–and they survived the sharp, rocky terrain of Bootleg Canyon, which is a feat in and of itself.

Overall, I had an enlightening and fun ride on the Dragonslayer. Each slippery corner and technical climb came and went with increasing ease, and with surprisingly little compromise. And with a $2,700 price tag, it’s a bargain, too.

2017 Jamis Dragonslayer 27.5+

The good old steel hardtail receives a technology injection

April 18, 2015 By Ryan Palmer

PO-ST HORIZONTAL SOCIAL SHARING BUTTONS

The 2017 Jamis Dragonslayer–a plus-size version of the company’s popular Dragon steel hardtail–will be hitting the trails later this summer with a whole lot of extra grip. Plus-size seems to be the theme here at his year’s Sea Otter Classic, with many of the top mountain bike manufacturers showing off their baby fat offerings for the first time. So why does everyone seem to be slapping 3-inch tires on bikes all at once? Boost 148, which made its debut on Trek’s Remedy 29 last year, was designed to create a stiffer, stronger 29-inch wheel–but it opened up a Pandora’s box of new bike design. The wider rear-end required bringing the chainrings out by a few millimeters, which gave bike designers much more real estate to play with. So people got creative, and tires and forks became available. All of a sudden, a new category was born.

2017 JAMIS DRAGONSLAYER |

It turns out that 3-inch tires are bringing forth the rebirth of the hardtail, and with it, a whole new beginning of mountain biking. When people started riding off-road, it was purely for fun. Since then, we somehow let things get serious on us. What better way to get back to our mountain biking roots than with a steel hardtail? With trail geometry and the added grip and confidence that plus-size tires bring to the table, we imagine the Dragonslayer will be a full-on grin machine. You can be sure that we’ll be throwing a leg over one when it becomes available later this year.

The Dragonslayer uses a now relatively narrow 73-millimeter standard English-threaded bottom bracket shell, so serious shaping is needed to get that wide, Boost 148 rear-end attached to the shell. It looks like Jamis was proud enough of its sleek chainstay yoke to slap some 3D branding on it. As you can see, tire clearance won’t be a problem on the Dragonslayer. The bike comes stock with the Vittoria Bombolini 27.5×3.0-inch tires pictured, with plenty of room for the wheel to come forward in the Dragon’s horizontal drops. Its 17.1-inch chainstays should be stubby enough for most riders as well.

The Dragonslayer comes spec’d with solid parts all around. Shimano supplies the brakes and drivetrain with a mix of Deore and SLX, while the bike rolls on WTB Scraper i45 rims.

Shimano is supporting Boost 148 now too, even though it was born from a Trek and SRAM partnership. This is good for everyone because for the price, you can’t beat the shift performance of Shimano’s mid-range groups.

Though its name hints at the bike’s trail-destroying nature, Jamis equips the Dragonslayer for the long slog too–rack mounts are provided for the adventurer in all of us.

My high compatibility with my room mate is not only a three year bond and trustworthy friendship, but also the constellations in our births. Both being born in the shortest month of the year, we share a lot of similar events in our life. Our roller coasters are only two years apart but light seconds away. When I get the effect she already has the result and vice versa.

This is a celebration of February and the quirky, wildly and unconventionally creative people that are always in search for something.

I use this 800k drive with a Mac 512k that has the original 64k ROMs. Pins 9 (-12v) and 20 (speed) are disconnected for compatibility because my Mac's internal floppy drive is still 400k (see pages 193 and 194 of Larry Pina's Macintosh Repair & Upgrade Secrets book).

This external 800k drive works well except for one odd problem. The red LED on the floppy drive lights up every 2 seconds when no disks are in the drives (at boot time). The Mac seems to scan the drive continually until a disk is inserted (I can hear a small motor noise from the drive every 2 seconds when the LED flashes). This seems odd since that 800k drive is supposed to be supported by the Mac 512k. I am aware of the HD20 init, but that is only required to read/write 800k disks. Once I boot the Mac, I can read/write 400k disks in this 800k drive without any init installed. 800k disks, of course, only work with the HD20 init. I believe this to simply be a minor incompatibility with this drive and the 64k ROMs, as opposed to a unique problem specific to my external drive alone.

The drive mechanism is a red-labeled SONY MFD-51W-03. Voltages at the 800k drive connector measured 4.75v~4.78v, and 11.99v.

First tandem ride with my six year old stoker! Notice the crank shorteners. Somehow the bike doesn't quite live up to its 36" stoker compatibility (she's 45", but perhaps her legs are short). As a rule, I don't ever ride in public parks, but as a maiden voyage, I wanted a few spins around on the soft grass before venturing out on the cruel streets.

The verdict: this bike is SO stable and confidence-inspiring. The stoker's position keeps the center of gravity so low that the bike is almost as easy to balance as a regular bike. This also allows the stoker to mount and dismount the bike all on her own, something not possible with a traditional tandem converted for use with a child stoker. Both captain and stoker effortlessly completed our first 5-mile ride, including the final climb back to our house.

Or Necklace :-)

Although curvy tiles aren't the right arc compatibility, these 3x3x2 arch bricks in Lime are, so even though I wanted to make a heart box -- this was fun!

Built using some parts from a Creativity Box sent by The LEGO Group for the #DOTyourWorld campaign.

The trans fluorescent chains came in the box, so perhaps next wave of sets includes them.

Should these (I have 2 and want to use both) be able to match some articulated bodies out there? Or is it better to keep the torsos that the heads can attach to, and add articulated limbs?

Thank you for any advice!

British Supersonic low level attack aircraft dating from the 1970's. This is the 7th version which is still in active service. Improvements include aerodynamic changes and more compatibility with new weapons. It has a lighter fuselage due to the use of new composite materials, more powerful Rolls- Royce Olympus engines, and an advanced avionics suite. The aircraft has a maximum speed of Mach 2.5 in level flight at 50,000 ft. But it is known for its' sea level maximum speed of Mach 1.3. It has a massive take off run when fully loaded, owing to its' sender ogival delta wing, and high take off weight. However, the use of flap blowing after the 2nd version aided to shorten this take off run, and facilitate greater handling at low speed

The aircraft has no internal gun, but can use a gun pod under its' wing.

Shown here is the aircraft in a fully loaded configuration, with external fuel tanks, unguided and GPS guided bombs

I bought this dress as an experiment to try on Saturday. As you can see, it doesn't zip up all the way, but it actually fits nicely otherwise! And luckily, the cardigan covers it to where you can't see the zipper anyways. Its a nice outfit and very well made, I may try some of the stretchier outfits to see how they fit her next!

I bought the camera from Pioneer so I wouldnt have to worry about compatibility with my AVIC Pioneer GPS system - it's not like they needed the money. Cable comes down the bolster above the passenger side doors, behind the shower, and underneath the rear cabinets. That's a piece of HDPE (white plastic cutting board) with two screws through the louvered AC vent, and the camera is glued to the underside. Helps keep it out of the weather and a little less likely to get all dusty.

The rectangular, radar-bearing Juventas CubeSat seen part-deployed from the top of its Hera mission mothership, inside ESA’s space-like Maxwell chamber for electromagnetic compatibility testing.

The foam pyramids seen around Hera absorb radio signals, while the 9-m high metal walls of the Maxwell chamber keep out all external radio interference. The result is a space that mimics the infinite void of space. This allows the Hera team to validate how the spacecraft will interact with its two CubeSats through its Low Gain Antenna (projecting top left), while simultaneously maintaining contact back with Earth through its large, dish-shaped High Gain Antenna (lower left).

“We’re testing that Hera can communicate with its CubeSats while also talking to Earth, without unexpected interference,” explains Hera systems engineer Franco Perez Lissi. “Accordingly Hera’s mission control team at ESA’s European Space Operations Centre, ESOC, in Darmstadt, Germany, is also talking directly with the spacecraft for the first time, through the High Gain Antenna, just as they will when the mission is in space.”

Hera is ESA’s first mission for planetary defence. Due for launch in October this year, Hera will fly to the Didymos binary asteroid system in deep space to perform a close-up survey of the Dimorphos moonlet in orbit around the primary body. The Great-Pyramid-sized Dimorphos is already historic, as the first Solar System object to have its orbit changed by human activity, by the 2022 impact of NASA’s DART mission.

Hera is intended to gather crucial missing data about Dimorphos for scientists, to turn DART’s grand-scale experiment into a well-understood and potentially repeatable planetary defence technique. To increase its yield of data, Hera carries with it ESA’s first deep space CubeSats, carrying additional instruments and planned to fly closer to the asteroid’s surface than the main spacecraft, before eventually landing.

The Juventas CubeSat carries a radar instrument, to perform the first radar probe of an asteroid’s internal structure, along with a gravity-detecting gravimeter. Its Milani counterpart hosts a multispectral imager to survey surface mineralogy as well as a dust surveyor.

In addition, the inter-satellite links connecting both CubeSats with Hera will enable greater accuracy in Hera’s measurement of Dimorphos’s mass, by analysing gravity-driven Doppler shifts occurring between the trio.

“Our testing of how Hera works with its CubeSats starts with the initial deployment process, which occurs differently from that of any standard CubeSat,” adds Franco. “The Deep Space Deployer on Hera’s topside ‘Asteroid Deck’ part releases each CubeSat, so it emerges from the spacecraft but still has power and data tethers connecting it. This will allow us to check the CubeSat is fully operational, and its radio link with Hera works as needed, before each one is fully deployed into space around a day later, to begin its own mission.”

Once this initial phase is completed, the testing will proceed to simulate the communications of the CubeSats in free flight back with Hera.

Testing one, two and now, three.

Radio frequency testing has begun on the first Orion spacecraft that will fly around the Moon for the Artemis 1 mission, just two weeks after thermal and environmental tests were completed at NASA’s Plum Brook Station in Ohio, USA.

Electromagnetic compatibility or EMC testing is routine for spacecraft. All electronics emit some form of electromagnetic waves that can cause interference with other devices. Think of the buzz that speakers give out right before an incoming call on a mobile phone.

Spacecraft electronics can cause similar interference, but out in space such interference can have disastrous consequences, so all systems must be checked before launch.

EMC tests often take place in a special shielded room constructed of metal walls and doors and foamy spikes (aka absorbers) that block out unwanted external electromagnetic radiation, like ESA’s Maxwell chamber at its technical site in the Netherlands.

Though not an EMC chamber, Plum Brook’s thermal vacuum chamber is made of aluminium that does provide electromagnetic shielding, making it a suitable substitute.

To test electronics, the spacecraft will simulate a flight in realistic conditions with most of its subsystems and equipment powered and in operational mode.

The electronics are first tested for compatibility in this electromagnetic shielded chamber. Equipment will be switched on to test whether they do potentially disturb one another.

In the second round of tests, electromagnetic fields will be applied using antennas around the spacecraft to test the susceptibility to interference from external sources. The Orion capsule is equipped with electromagnetic field sensors to take measurements as the disturbance frequencies are injected into the chamber.

While all subsystems are a potential source of radio frequency noise, of particular interest are the transmitters that intentionally generate radio frequencies. These can easily disturb other equipment sensitive to electromagnetic noise, like GPS receivers, tele-command modules and other communication elements.

ESA experts are on site monitoring all tests alongside NASA colleagues as Orion moves closer to its first flight without a crew around the Moon.

Obviously able to infect the American (plus E Asian?) Equisetum hyemale ssp. affine.

Planted a few rooted shoots of the exotic larger growing relative of native type to see if our type of Stamnaria americana is able to infect and propagate on it.

I did the experimental planting probably 10 years ago, maybe longer?, but never found any infection by this ascomycete before.

Now, after some years without controlling i found the quite typical blackening of tissue, telling the successful infection, still there are no visible structures of asexual or sexual reproduction, the epiderm is not broken by the fungus.

We will see if this happens later on, compatibility is not assured at time.

Any questions about ;-)

Ok using two different studs a classic, and a recently introduced stud that features a hole for the ability to put a shaft-like object into it (like a wand).

BrickForge's first try (the Power Assault) has a small shaft on the back that, to me limits what can be added onto the back, while their second try (the Shock Trooper) does have a hollow stud, which helps any customizer give it more equipment to use, plus you can add any of their introduced Rigged items, so hopefully any future armors released by any third party Lego vendor add a stud onto their armor based on Halo's.
