Cathay Pacific is still in the process of repainting their entire wide-body fleet, the vast majority now carry the colour scheme compared to the slow progress when first introduced back in 2015.

In April 2017, Cathay Pacific also confirmed that they will begin the process of retrofitting a large majority of their Boeing 777s in a 10-abreast layout in Economy, which is now becoming the industry norm on a majority of Boeing 777s around the world.

The densification sees no change in Business and Premium Economy seating, but an increase in Economy seats from 268 to 296. The vast majority of Boeing 777-300s and the 4-class configured Boeing 777-300ERs have too been reconfigured with a higher density seating arrangement in Economy. 3 leased Boeing 777-300ERs which are due to retire later this year will not see reconfiguration into Cathay's new layout.

Currently, Cathay Pacific operates 67 Boeing 777s, which includes 16 Boeing 777-300s and 51 Boeing 777-300ERs. Cathay Pacific have one more second-hand Boeing 777-300 on-order from Emirates as well as 21 Boeing 777-9s on-order from Boeing.

These two I think have a huge difference especially in the eyes. The first one is new the second one with the thick black hair in front I got when they were first released. I also see a difference in the lip shades and the green in the eyes. I love the one I just bought. I never got into this doll because I simply saw her as messy and hard to photograph. I like her much more now.

Did I say that my world had ended when the worm took Quane? That was nothing compared to what has happened now. Nothing!

Now I have ended.

Quane is dead.

And who killed her? Djiimi, that treacherous demon!

I will recount what happened...

We were walking along the bone-strewn corridor, groping in the darkness that lurked between each infrequent pool of liquid crystal. That same darkness seemed to have made an agreement with my imagination to look as threatening as possible, because for the whole while I kept thinking I saw the worm or something worse lurking in each empty shadow. Whenever we came to a skull, Djiimi would ascertain its age.

For what, to get my hopes up before she destroyed them?

Fortunately, none of them were Quane's. After about thirty terrifying minutes, we took a brief rest at a particularly large pool. We shared a canteen; as I accepted it from Djiimi after she had had her fill, I noticed her start as if she had heard something, then stiffen.

"What is it?"

I whispered.

She did not respond but reached into one of the many pockets in her utility trousers, drawing out a long golden length of fabric. It glimmered with crystal light as she slipped it onto her arm, and I realized it was a sort of arm-glove.

"What are you doing?" I hissed, "What is that?"

Before she could reply, a faint sound reached my ears. We both spun around, just as Quane stepped into our circle of light.

"Quane!" I fairly screamed, totally forgetting where we were in my overwhelming joy. Then it happened...

I hardly had time to notice where her pant leg had been torn to supply our trail to her, how beautiful (if unkempt) she looked, because before I could even start toward her a dull fwroooomsh sounded behind me, a bright flare flew past me, and Quane burst into flame. She died almost instantly, and I sat there frozen, too shocked to even cry out. Then Djiimi walked up to me from behind, her golden adornment (which I now perceived to be covered in minute circuitry) still smoking and leaking a small torrent of liquid flame out of the palm.

"C'mon Reldan, we should go," she whispered, her face not betraying any guilt, any sadness, any evil.

I stared at her in disbelief, all my anger, fear, grief, tension, horror and broken love blending into one hideous emotion that would not deign to be called something as mild as rage.

It hurt my brain, so a small remnant of self-pity let it out of my mouth: "NOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!"

So the trio of males in this Park showcased something i found very interesting.

#1 bird has dark grey underparts - no white

#3 bird has most white underparts up to and including area around vent (butt hole)

#2 bird is intermediate ,with lighter grey from rear to mid point of belly - then going white towards breast

I am not sure if this is a colour variation within the species , or if the 1st bird represents "Full" breeding plumage and the other 2 are emergent sub adults or are still transitioning from eclipse

One would have thought we would be in full breeding plumage by now...yet GWTE have many (sub adults ? i think mostly ) working on it

I’m rather happy with how this version of Sinestro came out, especially when compared to my old version. I went with the classic Blue Black suit this time, in part because I like it, and in large part because it’s so much easier to make! I was going to paint some blue booties on him, but I decided against it at the last minute; though I may add some later. I’ll most likely go over the color on the torso too, since I don’t like the lines that showed up in the pic.

Head wise however, I’m very happy! I used a needle with paint to get the thin stash and mouth. The rest of the figure is sticky-paper decal.

So, as you can see, Ryu isn't significantly taller than the M32 or M35 figures! However his hands and feet are enormous! His skin tone is also quite a bit lighter!

Quite surprised when I saw Elandra had a bigger head mold. Specially considering that Merina's head is quite big for her body, so I though it would work properly in a bigger body. The jaw part is the same though.

BNSF SD40-2s 1725 and 1882 work pulldowns in Galesburg, IL. The 1725 is a standard nose and very faded, while 1882 is a snoot and looking nice.

Thought it would be a lot bigger than mine. It has so much playability though. Not a fan of the green they chose for grass or the 3 stud wide spaces but the secret places and knobs to turn are all just incredible! Also wish they would have matched the house roof with the cheese wedge roof on the stone parts. But it’s awesome. Totally worth it! And the minifigs… oh the minifigs. :)

there they are again!

Thanks to Wizmat and the excellent Paul Brock for identifying this Sawfly correctly as Tenthredo mesomelas. Here's a description from

The Garden Safari

"Sawflies belonging to the genus Tenthredo are all rather big, elongated animals. They are very similar to the members of some other genera, such as Tenthredopsis and Rhogogaster. Most of these animals are black, black with yellow or green or entirely yellow or green. Experts can tell the members of the genera Rhogogaster and Tenthredo apart, by looking at the position of the eyes. Tenthredopsis species have longer antennae compared to the others. Tenthredo mesomela is a very common species over most of Britain. The name is very often spelled Tenthredo mesomelas. Both names have a similar number of hits using Google. We use Tenthredo mesomela for that's how it is written in the official name list of animals in the Netherlands.

Tenthredo mesemola is a big species, composed of two colours only: black and green. The upper side is black, except for some spots near head and neck and the shield. Even the upper side of the legs are black. On the front legs this often is less apparent, as the line of black is very thin indeed. The underside of the animal is green entirely. The larvae are found on various plants, Salix species in particular. The adults are often seen eating nectar and pollen on white flowers. But the adults also hunt for small flies which they suck on. This is remarkable for a Sawfly species, for almost all are strict vegetarians"

But what a fabulous green.......

Eflatun Pınar.....bears unique testimony to a major cult monument of the Hittite Empire. The Hittites secured the political unity in Anatolia, existed in these lands roughly between 1620 BC and 1200 BC and acquired a very different and significant place in the Anatolian history. The Hittites built their temples nearby sources of water as they thought water was elixir of life. The spring sanctuary of Eflatun Pınar has a great importance within the water cult having a significant role in the Hititte religion. Integration of water in the architectural and religious concept is a unique feature of the site. As the Hittites had a theocratic understanding of religion they often established their cities and erected their temples nearby the sources of water which is elixir of life. These sources of water and rivers were sanctified and good deal of importance that attached to the cult of water by performing a lot of rituals. In lots of places of the Hittite Empire territory, foremost Hattusa, basins, dams, weirs, especially rock monuments were built nearby water were unearthed. For usually Hittite spring sanctuaries had been carved everywhere in Anatolia in the natural rock, but in this case obviously Eflatun Pınar was erected artificially in order to be able to mount the relief. Thousands tons of stones had to be transported from an andesite quarry about five kilometres away from the construction site that is an impressive logistical achievement. No inscriptions were found at the site, but based on its proximity to Yalburt and Köylütolu Monuments this monument may be dated to the 2nd half of 13th century BC. A Hittite cult basin is also preserved in Yalburt, a place that is only 60 kilometres away from Eflatun Pınar. Yet the water structural arrangements of this monument are very simple and cannot be compared to those in Eflatun Pınar. In one point, the two structures are nevertheless similar the basin of Yalburt is erected of large ashlars, that are stacked up in several courses. There is no relief existed on the monument of Yalburt and as a result of its drain spring, it has lost its original function currently.

At last! A 2018 damselfly. This is a female Powdered Dancer (Argia moesta) photographed along Buffalo Bayou, close to downtown Houston.

Compared to 'larger' wildlife such as animals and birds, it is always relatively difficult in America to find information on insects. So I am not surprised to find nothing on the effects of Hurricane Harvey on either butterfly or dragonfly populations. Nevertheless it is abundantly clear to me that the triple whammy of Harvey, plus two severe winter cold snaps have badly impacted on these insect populations in south Texas.

Even in the first month of the year, butterflies and dragonflies are usually seen. January 2018? ZERO. Yet now in mid-April, by which time there should be large numbers, few species and few individuals are being noted. Powdered Dancer was indeed the only odonata found at a Buffalo Bayou site usually teeming with dragonflies and damselflies.

Reasons? It sounds counter-intuitive for odonata that need water! However, my guess is that widespread, severe flooding last August and September washed away both the vegetation and larvae vital to the future emergence of this year's populations. Any that survived were then hit by a double freeze up in mid-winter. To be positive, these are native insects, used to millions of years of hurricane and flood. In fact, they are adapted to survive such natural disasters far better than they are to the concreting over of the conurbation.

To me, this mountain and wilderness scene compares well to Yosemite! Silver Lake BC Canada. Possibly Wells Peak.

Compare version.

These two images were taken almost exactly 15 years apart - February 2009 and April 2024. 2 different MOCs of the same locomotive - Pere Marquette 1225. The first MOC in this photo was already 3 years old and had been rebuilt twice. I considered it my best train model. The second MOC... is a little different. She also desperately needs stickers.
