Damwild Kalb (Dama dama) - fallow deer calf

Pentas is a genus of flowering plants in the family Rubiaceae. The genus is found in tropical and southern Africa, the Comoros, Madagascar, and the Arabian Peninsula. The plants have hairy green leaves and clusters of flowers in shades of red, white, pink, and purple.

The cooler weather will soon be here although today is supposed to reach 27 C. The flowers will soon disappear from the garden.

The Indian palm squirrel or three-striped palm squirrel (Funambulus palmarum) is a species of rodent in the family Sciuridae found naturally in India (south of the Vindhyas) and Sri Lanka. In the late 19th century, the palm squirrel was introduced to Madagascar, Réunion, Mayotte, Comoro Islands, Mauritius, Seychelles and Australia, where it has since become a minor pest.[3][4] The closely related five-striped palm squirrel, F. pennantii, is found in northern India, and its range partly overlaps with this species.

The Mongoose Lemur is a critically endangered primate native to Madagascar and introduced to the Comoros Islands. These arboreal animals have pointed faces, long, bushy tails, dark-brown upper parts, pale bellies, and beards, which are reddish in males and white in females. This example is part of a captive breeding programme.

The mongoose lemur lives in dry forests on the island of Madagascar and in the humid forests on the islands of the Comoros. This makes the mongoose lemur one of only two lemurs found outside of Madagascar, though it is an introduced species in the Comoros.

They have declined sharply in numbers because of habitat destruction and hunting, and the International Union for Conservation of Nature has rated their conservation status as "critically endangered".

The Gold Dust Day Gecko (Phelsuma laticauda) is a diurnal species of gecko. It lives in northern Madagascar, and on the Comoros, and has been introduced to Hawaii and other Pacific islands. It typically inhabits various kinds of trees and houses. It feeds on insects, smaller lizards and nectar. The Gold Dust Day Gecko is commonly known as the mascot of GEICO! (wikipedia.com)

I was actually shooting a flower, while on vacation in Kona, Hawaii, when I saw this beautiful little gecko jump from a leaf to the flower I was about to shoot, and then back onto a leaf again. This little one caught me totally by surprise, and although I tried to capture all its amazing moves, they came out a tad blurry. It did stay still long enough for me to take this shot, and I may be able to salvage another shot of its adorable face peeking out at me from the flower! I love the amazing colors and markings on these stunning geckos and think they are so cute! Hope you do too! :-)

Lemurs belong to a group called prosimian primates, defined as all primates that are neither monkeys nor apes. Lemurs are considered the most endangered group of animals on the planet. These primates are only found in one small area of the Earth. Many species have small and decreasing numbers. There are a whopping 105 species of lemur, and they naturally come in a wide range of sizes.

Lemurs only live in one place in the world, Madagascar and the nearby Comoro Islands, which are off the coast of Mozambique in Africa. They occupy many different habitats: dry deciduous forests, spiny forests, rain forests, wetlands and mountains.

Lemurs are very social creatures and live in groups called troops. When lemurs are awake and active depends on their size. Most lemurs spend their awake time in trees. If they aren’t eating, lemurs like to groom each other or sunbathe.

Some lemurs are herbivores, which means they do not eat meat. They love fruit, but will also eat flowers, leaves, tree bark and sap. Other lemurs are omnivores and eat a variety of foods that include fruits, nectar, flowers and leaves with a side of insects, spiders and small vertebrates.

Baby lemurs are called pups. Many lemur species will cling to the mother’s belly for the first three to four weeks of life and then the pup will ride on her back until it is three or four months old. At three to six months the babies are weaned. Growing up can take one to three and a half years, depending on the species. This can be a short time when compared to how long lemurs live. Some lemurs can live up to 30 years. – Wikipedia

Pentas lanceolata, commonly known as Egyptian starcluster or star flower.

The color of the flowers range from red, pink, lilac and white. It is one of the best butterfly-attracting flowers. It is widely used as a garden plant, but photographed here in the wild. (on the comoros islands).

The Comoros islands have their own subspecies, Pentas lanceolata subsp. cymosa , but I am not sure about this one.
