As per my usual self inspiration struck at the last minute and I just HAD to get my hands on a prism! 🌈😂 luckily we found the ONE place in town that sells them! You would think it would be easy to get a prism to reflect on someone's face 😨 ....many many tries later we finally got it. Thanks @stevierayrosario for all your patience 😁 .

My first, second and third self portrait ideas all failed miserably. I spent so much time figuring out how to paint myself that when I was done it was dark out. On to plan E, I got out my flash and took photos anyway cause when you're covered in this much paint you just gotta go for it 😂 .

First photo is by @lauraharrisartist she paints while listening to music and the first time I saw her promo video it caught me completely off guard by bringing me to tears. She literally was painting her emotions on the canvas and danced around it sometimes fiercely brushing sometimes daintily. As I grow in my cross hatching I want to learn to embrace mistakes as added character like Laura does and learn to draw more loosely, and feel the lines verses seeing them. Next, going from left to right is @oanabefort (pronounced 'Wanna' which is my new favorite name) who paints all things floral & nature in a way that reminds me to bring the outdoors inside, to literally plop it onto my art table. @corygodbey is inspiring curiosity in me to try adding color to my drawings and he owns the best Harry Potter sweater I have ever seen. @lorraineloots is very important to me at the moment because she is proving to me that people do love celebrating their favorite little things, for example the tiny BFG book pictured above. It harmonizes with what my new art shop will be all about!! The Red Riding Fox is by @aylabobayla she combines watercolor, and sometimes colored pencil/pen & ink styles and she loves fairy tales and foxes reminding me to stay whimsical and to someday put my own twist on my favorite fairy tales. @jomarie_a is my sister and I sit near her when I draw in the case that she might rub off on me. @ozabu reminds of the detail that can be acquired with nothing but graphite. @jameszamora is teaching me that "creativity requires discipline and action requires consistency." I used to see his paintings as a photo but now I see the way he lets the texture linger on the canvas and to me they flicker about playing with my mind. @amariejune is the first crosshatch artist I've found on Instagram AND coincidentally she is from Fort Worth so I could potentially meet her someday! #drawing #art #portrait #artgallery #artist #artcall #paint #watercolor #ink #penandink #risingtidesociety #risingtidechallenge #communityovercompetition
