Had the chance to finally get to visit the well known Ice caves in south Iceland.
I was expecting waterfalls, giant caves but it's just the beginning of the season for ice caving and right now the big caves are not really secure places to go...
Then, we still had the luck, in the middle of a giant storm, to visit the small but beautiful northern lights ice cave...
such lights, reflections, colours, harmony in this space!
If you visit Iceland in winter, I warmly recommend you to visit these caves in south iceland area close to the famous glacier lagoon Jökulsárlón, and don't hesitate to take the photographer's tour, longer and made for taking pictures!
The whole set of photographs is there on my Behance Portfolio: Northern lights ice cave

screaming spring.
This is a little Victoria plum tree that has never done well since it was planted in 2004. It has had a lot of die back episodes. Against the odds, over the last couple of years it seems to be perking up. Looking very good at the moment.

A shotgun style house is not all that common in a small town of 600 or so, in this instance Drakes Branch, Virginia. Yet this 2-story narrow structure serves as housing. It’s in great need of upkeep—bricks are cracking in upper portion, the woodwork at the foundation is splintering, the door needs a new screen. It’s my guess that this structure was originally for commercial purposes. There was no way to avoid the utility lines in the photo.

This is a shot from my descent down from the Matterhorn. From this high up, it truly is a birds eye view of the valley below. Again, it's another shot from a week or two ago. I'm back in California now.

Love from Barcelona. A wall mural near the Gothic quarter. I'm home now, but truly exhausted, so a quick and belated Merry Christmas to everybody.
I sat and had a coffee waiting for these ladies to finish up, but it seemed that every variation of selfie, shots of each other and just shots of the mural itself was necessary to complete their memories of the moment. After 30 minutes or so I took a picture of them reviewing their latest set of shots, and moved on.

This is the fruit of a thorny shrub (Trifoliate Orange) in my yard in Charlotte Court House, Virginia. The fruit is generally not edible, but has been turned into marmalade. The thorns are quite sharp. The photo in the comments resembles a heavenly body. This photo made Explore November 23, 2013.

A duo of so-called Indian blanket wildflowers (Gaillardia pulchella) in the dunes.
St. Augustine Beach, Florida, USA.
3 July 2021.
***************
▶ "Gaillardia pulchella —aka Indian Blanket, Indian Blanketflower, Firewheel— is in the sunflower family (Asteraceae), native to much of the continental United States.
Its ray flower blossoms are about 2.5 inches across, with yellow tips and red bases; the red frequently grades from an orange-red near the yellow tips. There may be up to 100 disk flowers that are brownish-red."
—Wildflowers of the United States
▶ "Gaillardia pulchella is a hardy plant, not picky about soil, though sandy and well-drained are best. It has a high drought tolerance and does best with a dry, hot climate in full sun."

👎 Rejection.
An administrator for a Flickr group entitled FLOWERS rejected this image out of hand, stating as requirements: "We are looking for quality, sharp photos OF flowers, not simply photos WITH flowers"). How did this image 'violate' those strictures? Capricious nonsense!

The branches are a lot barer after our wind and rain. This is one of our deciduous oak trees, with evergreen oaks behind to both the left and right.
