The intent of my diptych was to explore a few things:
1. How society uses nature as a commodity, through lawns, trees, and house plants as glimpse to the nature world in consequence of living in a concrete jungle, town, or even modern agriculture. It still presented boxed and selective, as a product. However, in the transition between winter and spring in the midwest, the use of nature as a product looks displeasing in contrast to the mordern urban structures.
2. If you keep the urban portions out of the frame and look closely, nature still has a truth to it. When its dead, its still beautiful. The colors turn to many shades of brown, but the placement of the houses and modern buildings take away from it, with the artificial colors and boxed frames. It doesn't match. The commedities clash aesthetically.
Consumers also love nature photography and art, which is also a product of society. The beauty is there though, and to me, I feel our modern sidewalks, street signs, and homes completely mute it.
Personally, when it comes to nature, there should not be a product life cycle, like houses, cars, electronics, tools, and ect... which eventually break down, so that you buy a new one. The ecosystem is ultimately sustainable and is there to reproduce as a cycle of life. No purchase or manufacturing involved... water, nutritious, soil, and light.... But thats a whole different discussion!
