Moving on, moving on
It doesn't really matter
My brain follows a pattern
Forget about it
Breaking up, breaking down
You think it'll get better, but it never does
I feel like I'm dying
Nobody tells me I'm lying
Couldn't hear when I was crying
It's defeating when I'm trying to forget about it
All the silence is getting louder, and louder, and louder

Off to Bodmin Moor for a well earned break, well, a photo commision for me and a break for the family.......well, house hunting and maybe a little bit of a break.......
Not sure what happened but it turned out rather interesting. Playing around with various camera settings and this is the unexpected result.
A year ago, CN 2112 leads 60 loads of Minntac limestone around the curve at Spirit Mountain on April 8, 2016. Solid trios of C40-8s were regulars on the limestone when Utac was out of commision in 2015-2016. The 2100-series C40-8s weren't needed on T-Birds, so they mostly got the limestone assignment. When Utac reopened in Fall 2016, these 2100s went back to T-Birds. Still trios of Dash 8s on the limestone trains in 2017, but the ex-SF wide cab versions seem to outnumber the few cowls and standard cabs in the two limestone sets.

It's been a while since I had an art commission so pleased to do this with a photo that a customer provided of the Pembrokeshire coastline.
Waiting to hear back from the customer, but hope that they like it enough to get it printed up on a big canvas.
I downloaded an old version of Paint Shop Pro that is really good for this work and also got a new mouse so find it easier to reproduce this as its really fiddly zooming in up to 400% and smudging round the rocks etc. I did buy a small tablet but wasn't big enough to do the horizontal lines.

Painted brick warriors great coat. I customised it a bit: I removed sholder parts and stud on the back.
I am really satisfied with how it turned out. It looks very good imo.

Driving along the Forestry Commision road, minding my own business, I came to the gap in the trees with the view over the Aylesbury Plain, and this is what confronted me. I speeded (illegally) to the nearby car stopping place, tumbled out, and started snapping -- wrong lenses, changes, fumbles, .... the lot.
Those lit up pools of light came and went, and the intensity of the rays varied. But it stayed longer than my memory card lasted, and I left it for others. I felt blessed by a gift -- and hope I have adequately shared it. It was remarkable in reality.
Here it is On Black . I'm not sure if it adds anything this time. I feel it ought to.

One of Argyll's major exports is timber with many of the hills and mountains covered in trees. Not only does this make for stunning views, the Forestry Commision have built thousands of miles of access roads to allow access to the timber. This means lots and lots of paths for the trekkers to explore :).
.
The downside of this, however, is the desolated look that results from a patch of forest being cleared. Fortunately it is not long before the new growth covers it.

This little building was designed to look like a dovecote and is dated 1917. Inside it has marble worktops on all sides for the making of cream related produce.
A strange little commision, as it was built by the renowned Edwin Lutyens, perhaps Britain's most influential Arts and Crafts architect, better known for grand Tudor style houses in the Home Counties with gardens by the equally renowned Gertrude Jekyll who basically invented the classic English cottage garden style. Together they created an idealised dream of England that would be reproduced all over the world.
Artists Connor McLennan, Amanda Newman and Ash Coates have transformed Caledonian Lane in Melbourne with portrait imagery from the recently released Dune movie.
These five images show all the images as you move down the lane. It is such stunningly good art, truly amazing work. If you have your People stream set to see only one, I promise they're worth a look.
I did get a message when I posted these on Instagram yesterday along the lines of "Don't let capitalism take over street art", and whilst I appreciate that sentiment, I would counter it with the fact that our amazing artists have to eat, so accepting paid commisions, especially when they are this damn good, and when the "advertising" is so small (ie the movie name is very small in only one of the five amazing images) I can only say I approve.
Up a wee path that the forestry commision had signposted "authorised access only" but there was no sign of any harvesting activity. Curious? Needless to say I ignored the sign!

At the Ayette Indian and Chinese Cemetery.
To quote the sign put up there by the CWGC (Commonwealth War Graves Commision):
"The villiage of Ayette was the scene of heavy fighting in March 1918 when it was captured by the German forces during the great spring offensive. It was retaken by the 32nd Division on 3 April and remained in Allied hands until the end of the war. The Indian and Chinese cemetery was established by British fighting troops in September 1917 and used until the following April and again in the autumn of 1918. There are now 80 First World War casualties buried or commemorated at this site."
"Throughout 1917 and '18, the men of the ILC [Indian Labour Corps] and CHC [Chinese Labour Corps] performed vital transport, maintenance, salvage and construction work on the Western Front and made a major contribution to the Allied war effort. Some labour corps units remained in France after the Armistice and took part in the clearing of the battlefields, a task that involved the exhumation and re-interment of tens of thousands of Commonwealth soldiers. Although they were usually deployed outside the range of enemy guns, hundreds of labourers fell victim to long-range shelling, air raids and enemy action during the German Spring Offensive in 1918. Illness claimed the lives of many more, particularly during the Spanish influenza epidemic of 1919. A total of 2,000 Chinese and 1,500 Indian labourers died while serving on the Western Front."

Fallow deer are variable in colour, but mostly pale gingery-brown, with white spots on the back, a characteristic black and white tail and a white rump patch outlined in black. Some animals are darker brown without any spots (like these two), and others are very pale, almost white.

#44/365 Post Process Fridays episode #3. This week went by fast. I was actually out of commision yesterday due to the flu which I guess made the week even shorter. This week's shot is from Sof1a. I'd have to say this is probalby the least dramatic change out of the ones I have done so far since it was already a wonderful photo SOOC. I mainly wanted to add a little more autumn colors to warm it up a bit...sharpened a little bit of the wood texture on the bench. This also fits todays theme of HNNF!
