The Commerce Building, Worcester’s first "skyscraper, “is a steel frame structure faced with dressed white marble. It was designed in a Renaissance Revival style. Construction began in 1894 and was completed in 1897. It contains 5 elevators. The facade is enlivened with imaginative details and carvings such as lions’ heads, angels, Native Americans, shields, and garlands of fruit. The building is on the National Historic Register.

"Sun Maid Girls" Blaine Neikirk, Sue Crawford and Mary Jane Meece were on hand for the arrival of Walter "Teed" Hines as he arrived for his address to the local chamber of commerce. Hines was a member of the storied 1916 SHS Football Team and went on to become president of Sun Maid Raisins in California. Shaking Hines had is businessman Paul Dexheimer who coached the 1916 team.
