This happens to be one of the sunflowers from the bird seed. I did plant some colorful sunflowers that will be opening soon. I love how nature takes its course with the bird seeds and gives us not only chances to see the birds, but beauty in flowers also.

Thank you all for your kind words… It was a wonderful short vacation… visiting my mom and my brother… For the next couple of days… I would love to share with you some images of the island where I was born…

This grizzly sow was fishing late into the night in order to put as much fat on herself and her two cubs before their long winter sleep. She was actually very successful.

The grey herons are coming back to their old breeding colony and are wating for their partners to come back too. One of the signs that winter will end soon and springtime's coming! Aren't they beautiful in their mating dress?

Red-Winged Blackbirds settling down for the night in Suisun Marsh, Solano County, California .

This image is a collage of several shots taken at sunset in Suisun Marsh – a wonderful time to be there. Red-winged Blackbirds are year-round residents of the marsh, and in the evening they can be seen flying together in huge flocks.

Finally back on Flickr. Had a fabulous month off. Hope it gave Flickr time to get everything in order.

Spent some time in Yellowstone and Grand Teton National Parks. There were two young adults just kicked out by mom and not sure what to do with themselves so they hung out near the road. Spent many special hours with them.

FYI this was taken with a 600mm lens on cropped camera with ranger near by.

In Minnesota we are all very used to winter, and we all have that moment when we realize it is finally here and here to stay. Not many days after I took this photo, the North Shore received another 20" of fresh snow. It truly is a winter wonderland up there right now! Sometimes it feels like time just keeps flying by, we are near the end of another year and another year closer to the end. Sometimes when the seasons change it can feel easy to get lost in time or even lost in life. What is the meaning? What is the purpose? Another year is ending only to be replaced by another one coming. If we chose to look at life like this it can feel so shallow. We were made for more than to watch the sun rise and set day after day and with the years pass by. There is more to life than this. We are created for something more. We are called for something so much greater!

When I glaze upon this surreal image I feel a yearning in my heart. A place where one would love to come home to. A simpler life surrounded by nature slowly unfolding her magic around you. You can just imagine walking down the gravel road smelling deeply the green grass and that special smell that only a freshly cut field can give off.
