"Something blue."
A casual friend is giving the gift of photography to her best friend who is getting married. She asked me if I would do some wedding photography for her mature friend's wedding.
I am putting together some floral stills and then will take a portrait of the bride and groom to go together as a set. Because of the couples' age, I'm making this a very traditional pairing of images. (This can all be shot at home where I feel comfortable creating something for them.)
For now, I am working on the old wedding custom of: "Something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue."
What the final choice for "Something Blue" will be is up to the woman who hired me. This is one of my favorite outtakes.
It's lovely fun to be invited to share in the joy of another couple's wedding! She understands that I can't photograph the "moving targets" of the wedding itself, but she said she wanted me because she likes my florals and botanicals.
I feel so happy for the friend who invited me to be a part of the wedding and for the couple.
I hope these two women will be happy with my wedding-related floral photos as keepsakes to the special day.

I've suddenly realized, I haven't been on Flickr to comment or post any pictures in practically a week!
Everyone went back to work after the holidays, and it's been so very quiet. Just me and the critters!
I wasn't ready to take down the holiday decorations, so I've been basking in my holiday after-glow and catching up on some reading, and binge watching a pile of DVD'S I've been meaning to get to.
The weather for the most part has been dismal, so I've been taking my lead from Floydd and have been lounging about on the couch.
Trying to catch up with everyone....but I'm still behind.

Thought I was done with the cats? Nope. Plenty where that came from. They are super fun to photograph. Perla is kind of my favorite, she's a bit of an underdog[cat] who gets pushed around by the bigger and older cats, so I'm pleased she feels comfortable enough on my couch to let her guard down and have a little nap.

It became pleasantly warm and sunny as the afternoon went on. That's when I saw this wood pigeon perching on top of the hedge in the last of the sunshine of the day.
LOL, I totally messed up on the fox. It's my first time using Acryllc . I have one more canvas so now that I feel comfortable I'll probably do a whole lot better.

A Cat who was obviously very comfortable traveling. I had pulled up next to a small Motorhome at the market and noticed the cat sunning it'self in the front window.

This week was all about having a new hair cut and a new vision and new goals. And all of it feels so good and I can't wait to live this life right now. I can't even remember the last time I felt so comfortable with who I am and what I do and what I want.
Today I read the most amazing words by Nirrimi Firebrace (on cutting her hair) which were: “I didn’t have to be beautiful. At least not in the way society convinces me I should be." and these words so much reflect my thoughts when I cut my hair. My new hair cut is not beautiful. It is fresh and recognizable. And these facts make it so much more beautiful to me than what is said to be beautiful by the majorities.
Haha this is probably the most positiv description on one of my flickr photos ever :)

It is really great to decorate the house with lots of different beautiful plants. Observing the growth of the plants can truly feel the magic of lives. Each life has its own texture, color and life cycle. I feel grateful to have them around me during such difficult time : )

The saddle from my old Kona Dewdrop bike. It's a great bike. A bit old and it doesn't get out much now. The wide, fat saddle is very comfortable and far easier to draw than the saddle for a horse.

It was -10 on this Friday morning and surprisingly I had the place to myself.
Was so cold our Jet boat ride was cancelled as The Shot Over River was full of ice (-20 with windchill). I came back the next day for another crack to find the place full of togs (I think it was the OOAK team). Anyway apologies for taking 4 years to post a shot, I hope you like this one, it's on the road to Glenorchy.
