A species I absolutely loved spending time with in Kununurra - the fabulous Comb-crested Jacana! Those feet & their lily-walking abilities makes for a wonderful photographic opportunity.
Titled “The James White”.
Fozzie: "I got a job at the factory that makes combs. It's a part-time job, and sometimes it can be a little hair raising. But I did buy my bald friend a comb for his birthday. He said he'll never part with it."
El Peine del Viento (‘The Wind Comb’) is a collection of three steel sculptures each weighing over nine tonnes. These pieces have been positioned in the place where the city ends and the sea begins, where the waves embrace the stark escarpments of Monte Igeldo. Eduardo Chillida anchored the three sculptures to the rocks, so that the incoming wind would be continually ‘combed’ at La Concha Bay.

Estas piezas se han situado en el lugar donde termina la ciudad y empieza el mar, allí donde las olas abrazan los escarpados acantilados del Monte Igeldo. Comb-crested Jacana Bird at Wappa Dam
"The Comb-crested Jacana, also known as the Lotusbird, has a red fleshy forehead comb, a black crown, back and breast and brown wings. The belly, face and throat are white, and there is a faint yellow tinge around the eye and throat. Both sexes are similar in appearance, but the female is larger than the male, and slightly brighter in colour. In flight, the long legs and toes trail behind the body. Young Jacanas resemble the adult birds, but are rufous to black on the head and nape, and have a rufous-black breast band. The red fleshy comb is much smaller and darker."
This picture was merged from 4 hand held shots taken in portrait orientation with the Leica M and the 1,4/35 Distagon in order to get enough angle of view. Green is very intense at Lago Combal as there is a lot of water from the melting glaciers all around there.

Ever since I was small I loved feeling
somebody comb my hair. It made me
go all sleepy and peaceful.
