Begís (l'Alt Palància) País Valencià ////

Se situa en la vessant NE de la serra d'Andilla, a 800 m d'altitud, el terme està solcat pels rius Palància i Canales i compta amb els cims de La Juliana (1.476 m), La Pericona (1.468 m) entre d'altres. Hi ha paratges que paga la pena conèixer com la ja esmentada Font de los Cloticos, el barranc d'Agualobos o el naixement del Palància, i, sobretot Peñaescabia (1.331 m) declarat Paratge Natural Municipal el 26 de novembre de 2004. La flora i la fauna mediterrànies està representada amb l'esquirol, la rabosa, el porc senglar, l'àliga real, el pi, el teix, l'àlber i gran varietat de plantes aromàtiques i medicinals.

D'origen romà (així ho testifica el seu aqüeducte), encara que es troben deixalles dels ibers en la mateixa localitat. Poblada per musulmans, fou conquerida per Jaume I (1208-1276) el 1228-1229. Aqueix mateix any Pere Fernández d'Azagra s'apoderava del seu castell i la seua terra per a revertir-la a la Corona al mateix temps que la sotmetia al bisbat de Sogorb. Aquest mateix rei atorgà, el 1235, el castell de Begís i les seves terres a l'orde de Calatrava, en poder de la qual va romandre, amb el títol de comanda i vot en Corts. El 18 d'agost del 1276 Roi Pérez, comanador major d'Alcanyís, concedí carta de població, a fur de València, a 110 homes. No sabem més fins al 1838 que, amb motiu de les guerres carlines, fou ocupada la vila per ells i assetjada dues vegades pel general Azpiroz. Durant el regnat d'Isabel II (1830-1904) va ser senyor el duc de Montpensier, infant Francesc de Paula.

De tota manera, tot i que el convent franciscà data del 1542, l'església és gòtica, molt anterior, i sembla que era una part important de la comanda templera que dominava el territori d'Horta.

 

Va patir diversos saquejos i fou definitivament abandonat amb l'exclaustració del 1835.

Entre les moltes fortificacions que cobreixen l'illa de Malta i el seu gran port en particular, destaca una de relativament petita però amb una singularitat: el canó d'avancarrega més gran del món. En efecte, tot el Fort Rinella fou construit entorn aquesta peça d'artilleria massiva.

 

El canó en questió és un Armstrong 100-ton Gun, un dels dos que queden al món (l'altre és a Gibraltar), la historia dels quals és peculiar. Aquesta bestia pesava 103 tones i tenia un calibre de 450mm. Es carregava per davant i emprava encara polvora negra; disparava un projectil de 910 quilos a 6 quilometres.

 

D'aquest tipus de canó s'en fabricaren només 15, el 1877. De fet, la comanda inicial de 8 fou per a la marina italiana, que els montà als cuirassats Duilio i Dandolo. Però aleshores el govern britanic va temer que es fessin servir per envair, precisament, Malta. Aleshores es decidí enviar-ne dos a Malta i dos més a Gibraltar, per a montar en bateries de costa. A Malta es construiren precisament Fort Rinella a l'est i Fort Cambridge a l'oest de La Valetta.

 

Els forts serviren entre 1884 i 1906, en que quedaren obsolets. Mai foren usats en combat. Nomes dispararen en exercicis, però aleshores sembla que el retruny es podia sentir des de Sicilia i tot!

 

Un cop fora de servei, fou convertit en magatzem militar fins que als anys 90 del s. XX es restaurà i obrí com a museu. Fins hi tot s'hi pot disparar un fusell Martini-Henry de l'època (només en fogueig).

It was front-loaded and also used black powder; it fired a 910-kilogram projectile at 6 kilometers.

 

Only 15 of this type of cannon were manufactured, in 1877 in Britain. In fact, the initial order for 8 was for the Italian navy, which mounted them on the battleships Duilio and Dandolo. But at the time the British government feared that they would be used to invade, precisely, Malta. It was then decided to send two to Malta and two more to Gibraltar, to be mounted in coastal batteries. In Malta, Fort Rinella was built to the east and Fort Cambridge to the west of Valletta.

 

The forts were in service between 1884 and 1906, when they became obsolete. They were never used in combat. They were only fired in exercises, but back then the sound could be heard all the way to Sicily!

Durant la segona meitat del segle XII els hospitalers van rebre en donació les propietats de Puigpelat i l’Hospitalet situades a l’actual terme de Puigpelat, lloc on aquell orde hi va instituir una comanda. La primera notícia indirecta de l’existència de la casa hospitalera de Vallmoll és del 1184 i el primer document explícit, on hi consta el nom del comanador, Pere de Cirera, porta data del 1205. A l’Hospitalet es va aixecar una capella i la casa de la comanda, tot de proporcions modestes, mentre que d’altra banda es va anar formant la vila i fortalesa de Puigpelat, amb les seves pròpies defenses i com a lloc de refugi en cas de necessitat. Les terres dels hospitalers estaven dintre del terme de la baronia de Vallmoll i la seva situació jurídica era confusa, el que va desencadenar una llarga sèrie de conflictes i litigis entre les dues institucions per qüestions senyorials i jurisdiccionals. A banda de registrar-se tota mena de batusses entre els comanadors de Puigpelat i els batlles Vallmoll, hom troba també episodis més greus i violents: el 1298 la milícia del baró de Vallmoll va entrar a Puigpelat empresonant alguns vilatans, fet que es va repetir en diverses ocasions, mantenint-se fins entrat el segle XVIII, quan la jurisdicció criminal va passar a mans reials. A començament del segle XV la situació econòmica de la comanda era molt precària, una crisi generalitzada va comportar la decadència de moltes cases hospitaleres i obligar la seva reorganització. La comanda de Vallmoll fou unida a la preceptoria de Selma i la seva seu es va traslladar a aquest darrer lloc prenent el nom de comanda de Selma i Vallmoll, però la solució no va ser prou efectiva i la situació econòmica no va millorar, a començament del segle XVI les cases amenaçaven ruïna i els camps s’havien abandonat. Els hospitalers van mantenir però la capella de l’Hospitalet que va quedar a càrrec d’un ermità. La devoció a la Mare de Déu de la Llet va continuar, convertint-se en un santuari que va tenir presència a l’Hospitalet fins l’any 1920, quan es va enderrocar totalment. Actualment una capelleta vora el camí recorda l’indret.

Entre les moltes fortificacions que cobreixen l'illa de Malta i el seu gran port en particular, destaca una de relativament petita però amb una singularitat: el canó d'avancarrega més gran del món. En efecte, tot el Fort Rinella fou construit entorn aquesta peça d'artilleria massiva.

 

El canó en questió és un Armstrong 100-ton Gun, un dels dos que queden al món (l'altre és a Gibraltar), la historia dels quals és peculiar. Aquesta bestia pesava 103 tones i tenia un calibre de 450mm. Es carregava per davant i emprava encara polvora negra; disparava un projectil de 910 quilos a 6 quilometres.

 

D'aquest tipus de canó s'en fabricaren només 15, el 1877. De fet, la comanda inicial de 8 fou per a la marina italiana, que els montà als cuirassats Duilio i Dandolo. Però aleshores el govern britanic va temer que es fessin servir per envair, precisament, Malta. Aleshores es decidí enviar-ne dos a Malta i dos més a Gibraltar, per a montar en bateries de costa. A Malta es construiren precisament Fort Rinella a l'est i Fort Cambridge a l'oest de La Valetta.

 

Els forts serviren entre 1884 i 1906, en que quedaren obsolets. Mai foren usats en combat. Nomes dispararen en exercicis, però aleshores sembla que el retruny es podia sentir des de Sicilia i tot!

 

Un cop fora de servei, fou convertit en magatzem militar fins que als anys 90 del s. XX es restaurà i obrí com a museu. Fins hi tot s'hi pot disparar un fusell Martini-Henry de l'època (només en fogueig).

Among the many fortifications that cover the island of Malta and its large port in particular, one stands out, a relatively small but with a singularity: the largest muzzle-loading cannon in the world. In fact, the entire Fort Rinella was built around this massive artillery piece.

 

The cannon in question is an Armstrong 100-ton Gun, one of two remaining in the world (the other is in Gibraltar), whose history is peculiar. This beast weighed 103 tons and had a caliber of 450mm. It was front-loaded and also used black powder; it fired a 910-kilogram projectile at 6 kilometers.

 

Only 15 of this type of cannon were manufactured, in 1877 in Britain. In fact, the initial order for 8 was for the Italian navy, which mounted them on the battleships Duilio and Dandolo. But at the time the British government feared that they would be used to invade, precisely, Malta. It was then decided to send two to Malta and two more to Gibraltar, to be mounted in coastal batteries. In Malta, Fort Rinella was built to the east and Fort Cambridge to the west of Valletta.

 

The forts were in service between 1884 and 1906, when they became obsolete. They were never used in combat. They were only fired in exercises, but back then the sound could be heard all the way to Sicily!

 

Once out of service, it was converted into a military warehouse until the 1990s when it was restored and opened as a museum. You can even shoot a Martini-Henry rifle from the time (only blank fire).

São Miguel das Missões - Rio Grande do Sul - Brazil

 

O Sítio Arqueológico de São Miguel Arcanjo é um conjunto de ruínas da antiga redução de São Miguel Arcanjo, integrante dos chamados Sete Povos das Missões, e um dos principais vestígios do período das Missões Jesuíticas dos Guarani em todo o mundo, localizado no pequeno município de São Miguel das Missões, no Noroeste do Rio Grande do Sul, Brasil.

A construção foi edificada no século XVIII, entre 1735 e 1745.

 

Guerra Guaranítica é o nome que se dá aos violentos conflitos que envolvem os índios guaranis e as tropas espanholas e portuguesas no sul do Brasil após a assinatura do Tratado de Madri, em 1750. Os índios guaranis da região dos Sete Povos das Missões recusam-se a deixar suas terras no território do Rio Grande do Sul e a se transferir para o outro lado do rio Uruguai, conforme ficara acertado no acordo de limites entre Portugal e Espanha.

 

Com o apoio parcial dos jesuítas, no início de 1753 os índios guaranis missioneiros começam a impedir os trabalhos de demarcação da fronteira e anunciam a decisão de não sair da região dos Sete Povos. Em resposta, as autoridades enviam tropas contra os nativos, e a guerra eclode em 1754. Os castelhanos, vindos de Buenos Aires e Montevidéu, atacam pelo sul, e os portugueses, enviados do Rio de Janeiro sob o comando do general Gomes Freire, entram pelo rio Jacuí. Juntando depois as tropas na fronteira com o Uruguai, os dois exércitos sobem e atacam frontalmente os batalhões indígenas, dominando Sete Povos em maio de 1756. Chega ao fim a resistência guarani.

Um dos principais líderes guaranis é o capitão Sepé Tiaraju. Ele justifica a resistência ao tratado em nome de direito legítimo dos índios em permanecer nas suas terras. Comanda milhares de nativos até ser assassinado na Batalha de Caiboaté, em fevereiro de 1756.

 

São Miguel das Missões (Portuguese pronunciation: [sɐ̃w̃ miˈgɛw das misˈõȷ̃s]) (Portuguese for St. Michael of the Missions) is a Unesco World Heritage site located in the small town of São Miguel das Missões in the northwestern region of Rio Grande do Sul, a state in southern Brazil. The Guarani War (Spanish: Guerra Guaranítica) of 1756, also called the War of the Seven Reductions, took place between the Guaraní tribes of seven Jesuit Reductions and joint Spanish-Portuguese forces. It was a result of the Treaty of Madrid, which set a line of demarcation between Spanish and Portuguese colonial territory in South America.

 

The boundary drawn up between the two nations was the Uruguay River, with Portugal possessing the land east of the river. The seven Jesuit missions east of the Uruguay River, known as the Misiones Orientales, were to be dismantled and relocated on the Spanish western side of the river. The seven missions were called San Miguel, Santos Angeles, San Lorenzo Martir, San Nicolas, San Juan Bautista, San Luis Gonzaga, and San Francisco de Borja.

 

In 1754 the Jesuits surrendered control of the missions, but the Guarani led by Sepé Tiaraju, refused to comply with the order to relocate. Efforts by the Spanish army in 1754 to forcefully remove the Guarani from the missions failed. In February 1756 a combined force of 3,000 Spanish and Portuguese soldiers attacked the settlements. It resulted in the death of 1,511 Guarani, while the Europeans suffered only 3 deaths. In the aftermath of the battle, the joint Spanish-Portuguese army occupied the seven missions.

 

Eventually Spain and Portugal annulled the 1750 treaty in the Treaty of El Pardo, with Spain regaining control over the seven missions and its surrounding territory.

Pentru că s-a ivit ocazia am ieșit în întâmpinarea trenului IC 561 (fost IR 1661), botezat "Trenul Unirii" în cinstea Unirii celor două Principate Române, Moldova și Țara Românească, care a avut loc la data de 24 Ianuarie 1859.

Nici în acest an compania CFR Călători nu s-a dat peste cap pentru a onora acest eveniment la nivelul cuvenit.

Garnitura trenului a fost o struțo-cămilă, locomotivelor nici măcar o spălare nu li s-a făcut, darămite să mai vorbim de o vopsire.

 

Pe distanța București Nord - Tecuci trenul fost remorcat de locomotiva 41-0431-7, la fel ca și anul trecut.

În Tecuci a trecut la comandă locomotiva 64-1127-9, aceasta remorcând trenul de-a lungul magistralei 500 până la destinație.

El cotxe 5507 de TMB era l´últim de la primera comanda de la serie 5500, numerats 5500-5507. Eren Mercedes Benz O405 amb carrosseria Castrosua CS40 que van entrar en servei entre 1989 i 1990.

Cal Periques (Puig-Reig, Berguedà)

El castell d'Ulldecona, citat com a lloc l'any 1120 i com a castell des de l'any 1167, està situat en un turó en el qual hi ha constància d'ocupació humana ja en època ibèrica i després musulmana, moment previ a l'actual recinte medieval aixecat pels cristians.

 

Al recinte emmurallat del castell d'Ulldecona distingim diverses estructures: una muralla externa corresponent a la construcció àrab, l'albacar àrab i la vila cristiana, salòquia, la muralla àrab del recinte interior, diverses estances d'usos diversos, l'aljub, el pati d'armes, l'accés principal, un bastió o torre de cantonada de la muralla de planta rectangular, la torre de planta quadrada, la torre de planta circular, l'església de la Mare de Déu dels Àngels i una muralla del segle XV.

 

La denominada torre-palau dels Hospitalers és una torre de planta quadrangular envoltada d'un basament atalussat, de tres pisos i terassa que ha perdut el coronament superior amb grans finestrals a la planta més noble o corresponent a habitatge. Els paraments són de carreus ben treballats als angles i a les obertures i irregulars disposats en filades horitzontals als murs que li donen un aspecte certament massís.

 

També és important una altra torre d'uns 10 metres d'alçada, de planta cilíndrica i forma troncocilíndrica (5 metres de diàmetre a la base i 4 metres de diàmetre a la part superior). Té dos pisos i una coberta culminada per merlets. Les plantes estan cobertes per falsa cúpula amb una obertura central que permet l'accés al nivell superior.

 

Mereix especial atenció l'església de la Mare de Déu dels Àngels, sota l'advocació inicial de Santa Maria al segle XIII. Era la capella del castell de la comanda hospitalera, d'una única nau coberta amb volta de canó i culminada a llevant per un absis semicircular. La porta d'accés situada a ponent és de mig punt i disposa d'un senzill guardapols exterior a les dovelles.
