A 1975 Guy artic carrying pipes through Dunstable for haulier CW Bridge of Huntingdon in April 1984. Quite short-lived, it was off the road by the August.

SH2-132 The Lion Nebula is a an emission (Ha rich area) in the southern most part of the constellation Cepheus and is located approximately 10,000 light years away. The ionisation of the gas in this region is the responsibility of some massive stars, typically Wolf Rayet type. These have a white/blue colourisation and at least 20 times the mass of our own sun. The apparent is 90’ x 90’.

So this was one of my first shots that I took when I arrived at Portland, as soon as I parked my car I saw the tower and the fast moving clouds and knew what I wanted. Well mostly because I hadn't thought of giving my hand at selective colorisation.
I know selective colourisation is pretty common and cliche but I always wanted to give it a go and the red in this lighthouse seemed perfect. Also red always seems to be the best colour for selective colouring.
I was also personally really impressed with the sharpness I managed to get in this shot, despite this photo having only a little sharpening in post processing. I have started manual focusing on most of my shots now, unless for certain conditions its particularly hard. I'm still learning about hyperfocal focusing and stuff but at the moment I kinda just focus a third of the way up into the picture and work with that. But I still have a lot to learn with focusing, but its coming :)

...a very distant record shot of this very pale individual.How unusual is this colourisation?
North Yorkshire Moors.
Tough one for me to ID, I believe this is a recently emerged juvenile male.
Thorax and abdomen patterns seem Southern Hawker male.....but the colourisation isn't the same as a mature male. A large majority of males and some females dragonflies start life in one colourisation.... and as they mature quickly they change colour in thorax, abdomen and eyes.
As a side note....I've recently found that as in the case of Scarce Chasers Males where they start life as the same colourisation as the females... but over a short time they change and develop a blue pruinescence over it's body.
When they reach the end of their lives the blue almost like a powder comes off.
And the body then returns almost to it's original colour.

Another for re-colourisation following a lifetime of existence in B&W....
37090 after arrival at Perth with 1S81 2050 Carlisle to Perth on 27th February 1984.
The train was often a chuck-out of whatever was available I seem to recall, and would see classes 26, 37, 40 and 47 amongst others to haul this "parcels with passenger accommodation" service.
On this occasion we'd had 37027 from Ardlui to Glasgow Queen Street and then took a 303 unit from Queen Street Low Level to Blairhill, walking across to Coatbridge to pick up the Perth train. Still a nice surprise to see a 37 roll in although the down side was that we were then destined to head north on the overnight ‘gravity’ train from Edinburgh to Inverness with 47409. After the Lord Mayor's parade....
The loco later was renumbered to 37508 and then 37606 and in February 2018 was transferred to the DRS "Stored" fleet.
A wonderful still from an AI enhanced video I was watching on WW2 London that I thought was just too good not to share. It reminds me of a Vettriano or Hopper painting!

Just to carry on from Fridays update of adding a fitting colour tone to some captures that were originally shot in B/W.
I love B/W photography and I could go on and wax lyrical about why and what I see in B/W photography..........but I'm a simple person who likes simple terms ( I LIKE IT IN B/W ) enough said!
But I know B/W it's not everyone's favourite..... and adding a one tone colourisation can sometimes give a nice unreal feel to a scene.
All these shots were taken on very heavy misty mornings just after sunrise.
The sun was obscured by the mist so the light and colour was actually just a paler version and less saturated version I've used in these captures.

A first attempt at AI colourisation of a black & white neg scan. Chat GPT has done some strange things to a couple of the vans but overall I’m reasonably pleased with the result. l’ve no written record of this shot but I can recall taking it whilst driving down to Cornwall for a family holiday in the summer of 1983. An eh Peak brings an Up van train off the Royal Albert Bridge. The missing patch of paint on the nose suggests the loco is 45128 and I presume the train is 3S15 1210 Penzance-Glasgow.

With their striking black and white livery, there was no mistaking the buses of F Lockey & Sons, when visiting Bishop Auckland.

This 2ft gauge battery electric was sixty years old when photographed at the slate quarry near Blaenau Ffestiniog in October 1977. The locomotive was built by Brush of Loughborough (16303/17) and was then still in use, although not on the day of our visit. Having arrived to find it sitting in it's shed, a man in a Land Rover appeared to see what we were up to and subsequently helped us push it outside for photographs.
The locomotive passed to the Gloddfa Ganol museum and was subsequently bought by a private buyer when this collection was auctioned.
